A system configured to determine one or more boundaries of the space, for example, in 3D applications. In some cases, the system may generate point data including a set of safe points in a space and a set of unsafe points in the space, the space surrounding a user device of the system, generate a triangulation over a union of the set of safe points and the set of unsafe points, determine triangles of the triangulation that include at least one safe point and determine edges of determined triangles which are part of a single triangle that include at least one safe point. The system may then determine one or more boundaries of the space using the determined edges.

Boundary detection using vision-based feature mapping

This application discloses a method for commissioning an electronic device in a smart home environment. The electronic device receives from a client device signals that are encoded with communication data. The client device executes a client-side application associated with a user account that generates the encoded signals. The encoded communication data includes at least one or more network credentials of a local area network, and an authentication token that provides sufficient information to identify the user account. The electronic device generates a link approval request including the authentication token, and device identification information that identifies the electronic device. The electronic device then accesses the local area network using the network credentials provided by the client device, and sends the link approval request to a server via the local area network for association with the user account and addition to the smart home environment.

Systems and methods for commissioning a smart hub device

The various implementations described herein include methods, devices, and systems for programming and controlling devices with sensor data and learning. In one aspect, a method is performed at a system having electronic devices. The system includes processors and memory. The system determines a usage pattern of the electronic devices for each of a plurality of known users within a premise. For each of a plurality of first users of the known users, the system determines a correlation factor of the usage pattern. The correlation factor includes a state of a plurality of states of the first user including an activity of the first user. The correlation factor indicates a degree to which uses of the electronic devices are correlated with the state of the first user. The system generates, for the first user, an operational profile and causes operation of the electronic devices in accordance with the operational profile.

Systems and methods for programming and controlling devices with sensor data and learning

This application discloses a method implemented at a client device for adding a smart device in a smart home environment. The client device executes a client-side application associated with a user account, and the client-side application is associated with an electronic device that is coupled to the client device over a first communication network. A first user interface is then displayed by the client-side application for adding a new smart device. The first user interface includes a first affordance that when selected causes the electronic device to initiate a plurality of commissioning options. The client device then displays a device-specific control user interface associated with the new smart device in response to receiving an indication that the new smart device has been added into the smart home environment via communication between the electronic device and the new smart device using one of a plurality of communication protocols.

User interfaces, systems and methods for configuring smart devices for interoperability with a smart hub device

This application discloses a method implemented at an electronic device for adding a smart device in a smart home environment. The electronic device receives from a client device a request to add a new smart device to the smart home environment over a first communication network, and the request is issued by a client-side application associated with a user account. In response to the request, the electronic device determines that a new smart device is available to add to the smart home environment via a second communication network. Then, the electronic device connects to the new smart device via the second communication network, obtains device information of the new smart device via the second communication network, and causes a notification to be provided to a user concerning association of the new smart device with the user account and addition of the new smart device to the smart home environment.

A system having a plurality of electronic devices, at least one of the plurality of electronic devices having one or more processors and memory storing instructions for execution by the one or more processors, collects usage information of one or more of the plurality of electronic devices for a plurality of known users within a premise. The system then identifies, for a first user, a usage pattern of the one or more electronic devices based on the collected usage information, and determines a correlation factor of the usage pattern. Based on the determined correlation factor of the usage pattern for the first user, the system generates, for the first user, an operational profile with which to operate the one or more electronic devices, and operates the one or more electronic devices in accordance with the operational profile for the first user.

This application discloses a method for commissioning an electronic device in a smart home environment. The electronic device receives from a client device one-way signals that are encoded with communication data. The client device is located in proximity, and executes a client-side application associated with a user account that generates the one-way signals. The encoded communication data includes at least one or more network credentials of a local area network, and an authentication token that provides sufficient information to identify the user account. The electronic device generates a link approval request including the authentication token, and device identification information that identifies the electronic device. The electronic device then accesses the local area network using the network credentials provided by the client device, and sends the link approval request to a server via the local area network for association with the user account and addition to the smart home environment.

An apparatus providing for virtual use of one or more virtualized smart home devices. The apparatus includes a simulation app download element and a web host. The simulation app download element is disposed in a cloud-based file server, and is configured to download a simulation app to a smart phone that is collocated with a computer, upon which the one or more virtualized smart home devices are simulated. The web host is disposed in the cloud-based file server, and is configured to provide content to the computer to simulate the one or more virtualized smart home devices and, responsive to control commands transmitted via the simulation app, is configured to transmit corresponding control commands to the computer that change simulated states of the one or more virtualized smart home devices such that a user experiences control of the one or more virtualized smart home devices.
