A system for and a method of creating a coherent video data stream of an object moving between a plurality of areas covered by a plurality of data collecting devices is provided. The method includes selecting a plurality of data collecting devices from the plurality of data collecting devices, synchronizing video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, substantially simultaneously reviewing the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, specifying periods of interest for the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, and sequentially combining portions of the video data streams into the coherent video data stream, the portions corresponding to the specified periods of interest.

Process of sequentially dubbing a camera for investigation and review

A person can create a desired color through use of a visual aid or tool. The aid or tool may include a plurality of color lines, provided on a medium, on which color can be blended. The plurality of color lines may include: (i) a primary set of color lines, each providing a corresponding primary color that is different than a primary color of another color line in the primary set, and (ii) a secondary set of lines, where each color line in the secondary set is for a corresponding secondary color. Each color line in the primary set includes a plurality of color formations, and each color formation may have a common range of hues that are different of hues of the other color lines in the primary set. The plurality of color formations of each color line are arranged from a highest intensity to a lowest intensity. Each color line in the secondary set includes a plurality of color formations for the corresponding secondary color. The plurality of colors for each color line in the primary set and in the secondary set are arranged from a lowest intensity to a highest intensity. One of the color lines may be identified as either containing the desired color or containing a first primary component of the desired color. Once identified, one of two actions may take place: adjacent color formations from a single color line may be mixed, or color formations from adjacent color lines of relatively equivalent intensity are mixed.

Method, apparatus and technique for enabling individuals to create and use color

A system and method for utilizing circuit switched and packet switched resources are disclosed. A voice communication system configured for routing calls from multiple users to circuit switched or packet switched resources generally comprises a hub in communication with at least one circuit switched channel, at least one packet switched channel, and a plurality of user devices. The system further includes a controller operable to select the circuit switched channel or the packet switched channel for connection with one of the user devices when a call is placed to or from the user device and a routing device operable to route the call from the user device to the selected channel.

System and method for utilizing circuit switched and packet switched resources

The invention provides a video security system for monitoring a plurality of locations simultaneously. In one embodiment, the system includes a text insertion means connected between a video camera and monitor, a control means connected to the text insertion means, and a playback means operatively associated with the text insertion means and control means. Other embodiments include a video camera substitution system having a fixed video camera and a pan-tilt video camera and a video recorder substitution system having a plurality of alternate VRDs. In another embodiment, the system includes a programmable equalizer having a plurality of video input devices, a video output receiver, a switch connected between the input devices and receiver, a variable equalizer connected between the switch and receiver, and a controller storing line loss parameters for each input device, thereby providing equalization among a plurality of video cameras, monitors, and video signal recording devices.

Video security system

Selectively oxidized vertical cavity lasers emitting at about 1290 nm using InGaAsN quantum wells that operate continuous wave below, at and above room temperature are reported. The lasers employ a semi-insulating GaAs substrate for reduced capacitance, high quality, low resistivity AlGaAs DBR mirror structures, and a strained active region based on InGaAsN. In addition, the design of the VCSEL reduces free carrier absorption of 1.3 &#x3bc;m light in the p-type materials by placing relatively higher p-type dopant concentrations near standing wave nulls.

Long wavelength vertical cavity surface emitting laser

A VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) is formed on the top surface of the substrate having an opposed bottom surface. In one exemplary embodiment, the opposed bottom surface is polished and coated with an anti-reflective coating. A photodetector is disposed beneath the bottom surface and is capable of detecting light emitted by the VCSEL. In another embodiment, an angle selective filter is disposed between the photodetector and the unpolished and uncoated bottom surface. The apparatus urges light emitted by the VCSEL to be detected by the photodetector and limits light from other sources from reaching the photodetector. A method for monitoring the optical output of a VCSEL includes providing one of the exemplary apparatuses, causing the VCSEL to emit light that is detected by the photodetector, and adjusting the optical output of the VCSEL based on the amount of light detected by the photodetector.

Method and apparatus for backside monitoring of VCSELs

A low thermal impedance optoelectronic device includes an optical cavity adjacent a low thermal impedance DBR that provides improved heat dissipation and temperature performance. The thermal impedance of the DBR may be reduced by increasing the relative or absolute thickness of a layer of high thermal conductivity material relative to a layer of low thermal conductivity material for at least a portion of the mirror periods. The thermal impedance may also be reduced by increasing the distance between phonon scattering surfaces by increasing the thickness of the high thermal conductivity layer, the low thermal conductivity layer or both.

Low thermal impedance DBR for optoelectronic devices

A method and apparatus for determining substrate temperature and the mirror center of a film structure formed on the substrate utilizes a transmission intensity spectrum of light to determine mirror center and a normalized transmission intensity spectrum of light to determine substrate temperature. White light is transmitted through the substrate and the film structure during the film structure formation process. Also during the film formation process, a reflected light intensity spectrum is obtained using the same or another light source, for light reflected by the film structure. Substrate temperature and mirror center may be determined during formation of the film structure and, based on the measured temperature and mirror center, the mirror center may be adjusted by changing film formation conditions during the film formation process to vary the thickness of the films being formed. The method and apparatus find particular application in the in-situ monitoring and adjustment of distributed Bragg reflectors used as semiconductor mirrors.

Method and apparatus for controlling substrate temperature and layer thickness during film formation

A video security system ( ) capable of monitoring and recording fixed and moving targets and recording management information into a video signal such that the text can be removed from the video image produced by the video signal at playback of the recorded video signal. The VSS ( ) allows a camera ( ) to switch (toggle) between two or more view positions of interest and to set the view positions into memory by pressing a single switch. An integrated dual beam multi-channel optical-based flux monitor and method of monitoring atomic absorption of a plurality of atomic species during epitaxial growth. Light from multiple sources is simultaneously passed through a region of deposition of material such that atomic absorption takes place. The light that passed through the region is then compared to light in a reference arm that did not pass through a region of atomic absorption. From this comparison the growth of an epitaxial layer can be carefully controlled.

Integrated multi-channel optical-based flux monitor and method

An integrated dual beam multi-channel optical-based flux monitor and method of monitoring atomic absorption of a plurality of atomic species during epitaxial deposition. Light from multiple sources is simultaneously passed through a region of deposition of material such that atomic absorption takes place. The light that passed through the region is then compared to light in a reference arm that did not pass through a region of atomic absorption. From this comparison the deposition of an epitaxial layer can be carefully monitored and controlled.

Method of controlling multi-species epitaxial deposition

In a chair having a frame, a fixed seat, and a pivotal back, the frame includes two bridge-supporting legs extending between an upper position and a lower position behind and below the upper position. A transverse bridge fitting removably into openings in the bridge-supporting legs bridges the bridge-supporting legs in at least two orientations. The bridge limits pivotal movement of the back, when pivoted downwardly and backwardly, to at least two reclined positions. In one contemplated embodiment wherein the transverse bridge comprises a beam fitting removably and nonrotatably into the openings and bridging the bridge-supporting legs in two such orientations, a spacer extending along and mounted fixedly to the transverse beam is interposed between the transverse beam and the back in one such orientation but not in the other orientation. In other contemplated embodiments wherein the transverse bridge comprises a transverse axle, similar spacers mounted fixedly to the transverse beam are interposed between the transverse beam and the back, each spacer having a bearing surface conforming generally to a spiral or to a closed, curved shape when viewed axially and adapted to bear against the back at varying radial distances from the axis.
