A mechanism for switching between multiple copies of a software program on a computer system is provided. The mechanism includes detecting a plurality of copies of the software program on a computer system, receiving input selecting one of the detected plurality of copies of the software program to be a default copy, and determining whether the selected copy of the software program is a current default copy on the computer system. If the selected copy of the software program is not the current default copy on the computer system then, the mechanism further includes demoting the current default copy to be an alternate copy, and promoting the selected copy of the software program to be a next current default copy.

Switching between multiple versions of a software program

A data processing system, a data processing implemented system, and an article of manufacture for resizing an image. A removable features list is generated, and the generated removable features list identifies one or more removable features associated with the install image. A removable components list is generated, and the generated removable components list identifies one or more components associated with the one or more removable features. The generated removable features list and the generated removable components list are used to determine which files may be removed from the install image so that removal of one or more components does not impact features that are not to be removed.

Resizing an install image

The placement of trace points in software code being developed in a software development tool leads to the generation of trace point messages when the code is executed. These trace point messages are listened for by aspects of the software development tool. Responsive to receiving one of the trace point messages, the software development tool may write information to a trace file. Advantageously, the trace file is formatted using a standard markup language format, such as HTML. Consequently, the trace file is readily readable (including information-conveying formatting) by a standard, freely available web browser, rather than a proprietary tool.
