A laminate including: a first ply having a first surface and a second surface, where the first surface is an outer surface of the laminate; a second ply having a third surface facing the second surface and a fourth surface opposite the third surface, where the fourth surface is an inner surface of the laminate; an interlayer between the plies; and an enhanced p-polarized reflective coating positioned over at least a portion of a surface of the plies. When the laminate is contacted with radiation having p-polarized radiation at an angle of 60° relative to normal of the laminate, the laminate exhibits a LTA of at least 70% and a reflectivity of the p-polarized radiation of at least 10%. A display system and method of projecting an image in a heads-up display is also disclosed.

Heads-up display and coating therefor

A coated article includes a substrate, a first dielectric layer, a first metallic layer, a first primer layer, a second dielectric layer, a second metallic layer, a second primer layer, a third dielectric layer, a third primer layer, a third metallic layer, and a fourth dielectric layer. The total combined thickness of the metallic layers is at least 30 nanometers and no more than 60 nanometers. The article can have a sheet resistance of less than 0.85Ω/□, a visible light reflectance of not more than 10%, and a visible light transmittance of at least 70%.

Heatable windshield

A coated article comprising includes a substrate comprising a first surface and second surface opposite the first surface and a coating applied over the surface. The coating includes: a first dielectric layer over at least a portion of the surface; a first metallic layer over at least a portion of the first dielectric layer; a second dielectric layer over at least a portion of the first metallic layer; a second metallic layer over at least a portion of the second dielectric layer; a third dielectric layer over at least a portion of the second metallic layer; a third metallic layer over at least a portion of the third dielectric layer; a fourth dielectric layer over at least a portion of the third metallic layer; an optional fourth metallic layer over at least a portion of the fourth dielectric layer; an optional fifth dielectric layer over at least a portion of the fourth metallic layer; and an outermost protective layer formed over at least a portion of the fourth or fifth dielectric layer. The coated article has a total combined thickness of the metallic layers is at least 10 nanometers, and no more than 60 nanometers.

Coating for a heads-up display with low visible light reflectance

Methods of processing coated articles, such as transparencies, are provided comprising flash annealing one or more layers of the coated article. The one or more layers may be reflective metallic layers, such as silver layers, or comprise a transparent conductive oxide, such as indium tin oxide, or a semiconductor.

Flash annealing of silver coatings

A method of tinting or coloring glass. The following layers are deposited onto the glass: a first dielectric layer, a subcritical metallic layer; a primer layer; and a second dielectric layer. Alternatively, these layers may be deposited onto the glass: a first dielectric layer, a subcritical metallic layer; and a second dielectric layer. Alternatively, the invention is a coated article that includes a substrate, a first dielectric layer, an absorbing layer, and a second dielectric layer over the primer layer. The absorbing layer can be Inconel, titanium nitride, cobalt chrome (stellite), or nickel chrome material, and has a thickness in the range of 50 Å to 150 Å.

Solar control coatings providing increased absorption or tint

An architectural transparency includes a substrate; a first dielectric layer over at least a portion of the substrate, a first metallic layer over the first dielectric layer, a first primer layer over the first metallic layer, a second dielectric layer over the first primer layer, a second metallic layer over the second dielectric layer, a second primer layer over the second metallic layer, a third dielectric layer over the second primer layer, a third metallic layer over the third dielectric layer, a third primer layer over the third dielectric layer, and a fourth dielectric layer over the third primer layer. At least one of the metallic layers is a subcritical metallic layer.

Solar control coating with discontinuous metal layer

A coated article includes a substrate, a first dielectric layer, a first metallic layer, a second dielectric layer, a second metallic layer, a third dielectric layer, a third metallic layer, a fourth dielectric layer, a fourth metallic layer and a fifth dielectric layer. At least one of the metallic layers is a discontinuous metallic layer having discontinuous metallic regions. An optional primer is positioned over any one of the metallic layers. Optionally a protective layer is provided as the outer most layer over the fifth dielectric layer.

Solar control coatings with quadruple metallic layers

A coating provides a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) and a low overall heat transfer coefficient (U-value) to trap and retain solar heat. The coating and coated article are particularly useful for use in architectural transparencies in northern climates. The coating includes a first dielectric layer; a continuous metallic layer formed over at least a portion of the first dielectric layer, the metallic layer having a thickness less than 8 nm; a primer layer formed over at least a portion of the metallic layer; a second dielectric layer formed over at least a portion of the primer layer; and an overcoat formed over at least a portion of the second dielectric layer. When used on a No. 3 surface of a reference IGU, the coating provides a SHGC of greater than or equal to 0.6 and a U-value of less than or equal to 0.35.

A solar control coating () includes a first phase adjustment layer (); a first metal functional layer (); a second phase adjustment layer (); a second metal functional layer (); a third phase adjustment layer (); a third metal functional layer (); a fourth phase adjustment layer (); and optionally, a protective layer (). At least one of the metal functional layers () includes a metal functional multi-film layer including (i) at least one infrared reflective film and (ii) at least one absorptive film.

The primer can be a nickel-chromium alloy. The primer can be a multilayer primer having a first layer of a nickel-chromium alloy and a second layer of titania. The subcritical layer can contain copper and silver.
