An end connector for fiber optic transport cables. A cable clamp received within a passageway of a housing which receives the cable is provided to hold the cable in a secured position so as to resist rotational and longitudinal forces applied to the cable. Support coupling units are provided both internal and external the equipment which the cable is to be connected to. The coupling units allow the end connector to be coupled to and decoupled from the equipment without unnecessary rotation of the end connector and cable and without having to remove the cable from the end connector. Grounding components are provided for grounding conductive members associated with the cable so as to prevent damage due to voltage surges and to prevent RF signal leakage.

Fiber optic cable end connector

A radial compression type coaxial cable end connector has a connector body comprising a tubular inner post extending from a front end to a rear end, and an outer collar surrounding and fixed relative to the inner post at a location disposed rearwardly of the front post end. The outer collar cooperates in a radially spaced relationship with the inner post to define an annular chamber with a rear opening. A fastener at the front end of the inner post serves to attach the end connector to a system component. A tubular locking member protrudes axially into the annular chamber through its rear opening. The tubular locking member is integrally coupled to the connector body and is displaceable axially between an open position accommodating insertion of the tubular inner post into a prepared cable end, with an annular outer portion of the cable being received in the annular chamber, and a clamped position fixing the annular cable portion within the chamber.

Radial compression type coaxial cable end connector

An end connector for a coaxial cable has a rotatable nut with an internal thread configured and dimensioned to coact in threaded engagement with a complimentary external thread on a system component. A circular seal element is contained within and axially fixed with respect to the nut. The seal element is deformable into a configuration lining at least a portion of the internal thread to thereby establish a barrier to the penetration of moisture between the interengaged internal and external threads.

The connector of the invention is particularly suited for use in combination with a coaxial cable and an equipment port having an internal first conductor. The end connector of the invention includes a connector element, a deflecting unit and a component interlocking unit. The connector element has one end adapted to be secured to the coaxial cable and includes a tubular connector wall at an opposite end surrounding a second electrical conductor. The connector wall is configured and dimensioned to axially receive a tubular port wall therein, with the first and second conductors being normally spaced one from the other. The deflecting unit is responsive to axial reception of the port wall in the connector wall for deflecting one of the conductors into electrical contact with the other of the conductors. The interlocking unit is associated with the port and connector walls for establishing an interlocked relationship between the equipment port and the connector element.

A coaxial cable end connector includes a tubular post having a first flange at a front end thereof and a port fastener rotatably supported on the front end of the post, the fastener having a second flange adapted to coact in mechanical interengagement with the first flange. The first and second flanges establish a non-planar interface of interengagement which acts as a signal seal in response to being interengaged. The first flange includes a surface indentation which coacts with a surface protuberance of the second flange in response to the fastener being connected to a signal port. In addition, an interference protuberance associated with the fastener coacts with an inclined surface associated with the tubular body to establish another non-planar interface of interengagement which acts as an additional signal seal. In a further embodiment, the port fastener includes a coupling nut with an internally threaded surface having an undersized thread portion proximate to the first and second flanges, such that the enlarged thread creates a locking effect and enhances the signal seal as the port fastener is threaded onto the signal port.

A male splice adaptor includes a tubular housing having first and second sections which are detachably coupled to one another. Each of the sections includes an output port from which a connector pin extends from within the housing. A seal is provided in each of the output ports and is configured so that as the first and second sections are coupled to one another, the seal is expanded so as to create a weather-tight seal within the output port.

An end connector for connecting a coaxial cable to a port having a tubular body with front and end portions a cable attachment section associated with the rear end portion for attaching the connector to the cable, and a port attachment section associated with the front end portion for attaching the connector to the port. The cable attachment section includes an interiorly threaded portion of the tubular body. An annular post is disposed in an intermediate region between the port attachment section and the cable attachment section, and extends partially into an is spaced radially from the interiorly threaded region. The annular post is adapted for insertion into the cable and at a position in which the annular post is in electrical contact with the outer conductor and electrically isolated from the inner conductor by the dielectric insulator, with a portion of the outer conductor overlying the jacket being driven into electrical contact with the interiorly threaded region. The annular post and an innermost portion of the interiorly threaded region define an indentation region adapted to receive a portion of the cable jacket so as to centrically support the cable within the tubular body.

Fiber optic cable end connector having a sealing grommet

An end connector for connecting a fiber optic cable to a port associated with a piece of equipment, the cable having at least one optic fiber and at least one other support member surrounded by a jacket. The end connector includes a housing member having a front end and a rear end, the housing member defining a passageway extending from the rear end to the front end for passing the cable therethrough. A coupling unit is provided for coupling the housing member to the port. A clamp unit is received in the passageway and is adapted to at least partially surround the cable, the clamp unit being adjustable between an expanded state which accommodates movement of the cable with respect to the housing and a constricted state which fixedly secures the cable with respect to the housing. A clamp adjustment unit is provided for adjusting the clamp unit between the expanded and the constricted states. The clamp unit includes a barrel shaped structure having a plurality of stave-like clamp bars adapted to constrict inwardly about the cable in order to provide increasing clamping pressure on the cable as the clamp unit is adjusted to the constricted state.

Fiber optic cable end connector with electrical grounding means

An end connector for connecting a tubular support structure having at least one optic fiber associated with a fiber optic cable, to a terminal of an associated device. A housing member is configured with a passageway from a front end to a rear end for passing the tubular support structure therethrough. A clamping portion including a flexible sleeve and compression grommet are received and supported by both the housing and a compression nut which couples to the rear end of the housing. As the compression nut is threaded onto the rear end of the housing, the compression grommet is compressed, and in turn the flexible sleeve constricts to apply clamping pressure to the tubular support structure holding the optic fibers.

An end connector for connecting a coaxial cable to a port having a tubular body with front and rear end portions, a cable attachment section associated with the rear end portion for attaching the connector to the cable, and a port attachment section associated with the front end portion for attaching the connector to the port. The port attachment means includes a split ferrule defining a plurality of partially cylindrical resilient fingers, the fingers having inward arcuate projections defining a circumferential ridge adapted to engage the port. The split ferrule defines an inner surface which is inwardly tapered to enhance port to connector contact. A locking sheath is disposed about the front end portion of the tubular body and is adapted to engage an outer surface of the split ferrule so as to restrict the resiliency of the resilient fingers. The attachment section includes an interiorly threaded portion of the tubular body which is preceded by a non-threaded interior portion of the tubular body that is adjacent a rear end opening at the rear end portion of the tubular body.
