Described herein are systems and methods for a media controller configured to associate data from a media device received using a media device interface with actions on the media devices. The associated data and actions may be used to build a media device interface command map. The media device interface command map may be used by the media controller to control the media device. A user interface provided by the media controller may thus be used to control disparate devices, allowing for a coordinated and consistent user experience across multiple media devices, even when they are from different manufacturers.

Determining commands on a media device interface

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for receiving, by a removable computing device that is electrically connected to a computing system through a physical connection, contact information from a contact list that is assigned to a user account. The user account is associated with a mobile computing device that is in wireless communication with the removable computing device. The removable computing device is configured to physically disconnect from the computing system. The removable computing device provides the computing system with the contact information for presentation by a display of the computing system. The removable computing device receives from the computing system an indication of user input requesting that the mobile computing device initiate communication with a device identified by the contact information. The removable computing device transmits data to the mobile computing device that causes the mobile computing device to initiate the communication with the device identified by the contact information.

A driver may provide preferred vehicle setting data to a system through a user interface or the system may detect the preferred driver vehicle setting data by communicating with a particular vehicle. The preferred vehicle setting data may be generalized/abstracted so that the data is not specific to any one vehicle. When the driver sits in any vehicle, the system may identify the type of vehicle and translate the abstracted driver vehicle setting data to driver vehicle setting data that is particular to the identified vehicle.

Systems, device and techniques are disclosed for modifying a cache value based on an upcoming reduction in connection. A determination be made that a user device is in a travel mode and intended travel data may be received accordingly. Data throughput information corresponding to the intended travel data may be received. A determination that there is an upcoming reduction in connection may be made based on the data throughput information. A cache value (e.g., amount of data received, provided, or cached) may be modified based on the upcoming reduction in connection.

Using a small number of input controls a user may quickly and easily navigate content available for presentation from one or more content providers. Additional information may be presented to the user to facilitate selection of the content. Users may select content using one or more of a graphical user interface, or voice input.

Various selection data such as cost, subscription plan, and so forth are gathered and a weighting profile is applied to generate a total weight by content provider. The total weight by content provider may be used to select one content provider from another for delivery of a particular piece of content.

In one embodiment, a method includes displaying a user interface including one or more graphical elements, wherein display of the user interface is associated with a display configuration, and detecting a user command associated with navigating to one or more previously displayed user interface display configurations. The method may further include storing a user interface configuration for the display configuration, and adjusting display of the user interface based on the user command.
