A bearing system includes bearing unit and a side-jet injector. The bearing unit includes an outer race, a plurality of internal rotating components, and an inner race. The side-jet injector includes an injector for delivering a lubrication source to the plurality of rotating components to withdraw heat generated and lubricate the bearing unit during operation of the bearing system.

Bearing for use in high speed application

A circumferential lubricant scoop for providing lubricant to a bearing assembly. The scoop is disposed circumferentially about and rotates with a rotor shaft. The scoop comprises a plurality of lubricant capturing vanes shaped to capture and retain lubricant in a cavity behind a lower lip of the vane. This cavity is in fluid communication with channels leading to fluid pathways of an inner race of the bearing assembly. Fluid is moved through the channels and fluid pathways due to the rotational force imparted by the rotating rotor shaft.

Circumferential lubricant scoop

A bearing system includes bearing unit and a lubrication system. The bearing unit includes an outer race, a plurality of internal rotating components, and an inner race. The lubrication system includes an injector for delivering a stream of lubrication to the plurality of rotating components to withdraw heat generated and lubricate the bearing unit during operation of the bearing system.

Systems and methods are presented for directing oil to a bearing of a rotatable shaft. A system comprises a bearing race, a nozzle, and an oil catcher. The bearing race defines a first radial passage and a second radial passage axially displaced from the first radial passage. The nozzle is arranged to eject a stream of oil under pressure toward the shaft. The oil catcher is positioned between the bearing race and the shaft. The oil catcher comprises an annular catching flange at least partly defining a catchment region. The oil catcher defines a first channel extending from the catchment region to the first radial passage of the bearing race and a second channel extending from the catchment region to the second radial passage of the bearing race.

Systems and methods of oil distribution for a bearing

An inner ring for a bearing comprises a ring body including outer and inner surfaces each extending in a circumferential direction about a longitudinal axis. The outer surface is disposed radially outside the inner surface and includes (a) a raceway for supporting circumferentially arranged rolling elements, (b) a forward separator land, and (c) an aft separator land, where the raceway is axially situated between the forward and aft separator lands. The inner surface includes an annular groove for containing a lubricant under centrifugal forces. Flow passages for distributing the lubricant extend through the ring body from the inner surface to the outer surface, including a set of first flow passages extending from the annular groove to the raceway, a set of second flow passages extending from the annular groove to the forward separator land, and a set of third flow passages extending from the annular groove to the aft separator land.
