A hair care composition containing inorganic fluoride for straightening, smoothing, and/or relaxing hair, and a method for using the hair care composition a hair care composition containing an inorganic fluoride for straightening, smoothing, defrizzing, curling and/or relaxing of hair, and its method of use in a variety of hair care products, e.g., straightener solution, shampoo, conditioner, color binding treatment, volumizing treatment, a combination thereof, etc. The hair care composition is formaldehyde-free, even when heated.

By formulating permanent wave compositions with chlorophyll derivatives of water soluble alkaline divalent cations selected from the group consisting of magnesium, manganese, calcium, copper, and zinc, an easily employed malodor reducing composition is achieved for use with conventional reducing agents employed for permanently waving hair. In accordance with the present invention, chlorophyll derivative compositions soluble in propylene glycol and glycerol are employed in pre-treatments, waving lotions, or as additives to the waving lotions using various different reducing agents salts and esters of TGA, TLA, Cysteine, Cysteamine, and Bisulfite.

Method and composition for reducing malodor in permanently waved hair

A method and composition treatment is used to reduce post permanent odor in permed or waved hair. The malodor in permed hair is reduced by applying a leave-in aqueous treatment of pH 2.5-4.5 containing, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, polyquaternium-7, dimethicone and fragrance containing at least four components with water/octanol partition coefficient Log Kor log P of 3-4.5. The post permanent odor in hair is reduced by (1) minimizing any reactions of hair with residual chemical compounds in hair after the perming process or after the oxidation step and (2) lessen or suppress any odoriferous compounds by decreasing their vapor pressure and (3) depositing in hair long lasting fragrance components to mask or change the malodor to be more pleasant.

By operationally mounting a plurality of wafers or plates forming tumblers in an independent, separate, substantially closed container, and cooperatively mounting the plate tumbler container with a cylinder forming member, a unique cylinder lock system is attained which is easily and inexpensively manufactured, as well as quickly and easily re-keyed whenever desired. In the preferred embodiment, all of the plate tumblers which are desired for the particular lock construction are mounted in the substantially closed container, with each plate tumbler having the requisite spring means associated therewith. In addition, the plate tumbler holding container incorporates one aperture for each plate tumbler which allows the slot engaging fin of each tumbler to extend outwardly from the container for locking and unlocking association with the housing.

Self-neutralizing permanent wave composition and method therefor

By providing a neutralizing solution formulated with an alkaline pH, for use with a conventional reducing lotion, a long-lasting, permanently waved head of hair is attained. Furthermore, by employing the neutralizing solution of the present invention, substantially reduced hair damage and substantially improved curl retention and formation is attained. In the preferred embodiment, the alkaline pH neutralizing solution of the present invention is attained by employing a bromate salt in combination with at least one pH adjusting agent. If desired, hair conditioning and wave enhancing additives may also be employed. Preferably, the bromate salt employed comprises one selected from the group consisting of sodium bromate and potassium bromate, with sodium bromate.

An improved, highly effective permanent waving lotion is attained by employing a reducing agent which consists of a lower alkyl ester of cysteine in combination with a thiol compound selected from the group consisting of ammonium salts and glyceryl esters of thioglycolic acid, thiolactic acid and thiopropionic acid. By employing the reducing agent of this invention, the pH level at which the permanent wave is performed can be substantially reduced, thereby improving comfort and reducing adverse reactions. The reducing agent of this invention is employed either as an aqueous solution of the two components or in association with desired additives for imparting additional benefits to the permanently waved hair. Preferably, the reducing agents of the present invention are employed in a permanent waving lotion having a pH ranging between about 5.0 and 9.5.

Reducing agents for permanent waving of hair

A highly effective permanent waving lotion is attained by employing one compound selected from the group consisting of glyceryl monothiopropionate, glyceryl thiolactate, and combinations of glyceryl monothiopropionate and glyceryl thiolactate as the sole reducing agent. In accordance with this invention, the reducing agent is employed either independently in an aqueous solution or in association with desired additives for imparting additional benefits to the permanently waved hair. Preferably, the reducing agents of the present invention are employed in a permanent waving lotion having a pH ranging between about 6.0 and 9.5. In this way, processing time is reduced and long lasting permanently waved hair is attained with substantially less malodor being produced.

An entirely new class of reducing agents with substantially enhanced beneficial results is attained by employing polyoxyethyleneglycol dimercaptoalkylester compounds in a permanent waving lotion. This new class of reducing agents are water soluble, non-volatile and provide a substantially reduced malodor effect. Furthermore, by employing the dithiol compounds of the present invention as the reducing agent, long lasting hair conditioning and enhanced physical attributes, such as shine, luster, softness, manageability, and hair thickness, are also realized.

Permanent waving composition

By providing a composition for use with a conventional keratin reducing agent which comprises at least one mono or dimercaptopolyoxyethylene compound, a substantially improved and enhanced permanent wave is attained which provides a substantially increased long-lasting and durable hair set retention, as well as enhanced hair conditioning, sheen and manageability. In the preferred embodiment, the composition of the present invention is employed either as a post treatment after the application of a conventional hair keratin reducing agent or as an additive in the conventional reducing formulation. Furthermore, the preferred mono or dimercaptopolyoxyethylene compound employed preferably comprises a molecular weight ranging between about 200 and 800.
