An adapter and interface permits a standard mortise lock to drive top and bottom latch mechanisms of a multi-point lock system. An actuator permits in situ adjustment of the top and bottom vertical latch projections of adjusting these projections while the door is hung in the door frame. An installation tool assists in the installation of the vertical rods in a door. A connector and carrier secures the vertical rods to the actuator and permits verification of retention of the rods in a multi-point latching system. A latch dogging indicator allows for end-user adjustment between a single-point lock and a multi-point lock system when desired. These different aspects may be employed in combination or separately with other locking systems.

A latching device may include an actuator configured to actuate between an actuated state and an unactuated state, a first rod including a threaded end, and a first rod coupler operatively coupled to the actuator and the first rod and configured to transfer force between the actuator and the first rod. The first rod coupler may include a rod receptacle configured to rotate about a first axis and to at least partially receive and engaged the first rod. The first rod coupler may also include a rod adjuster rotatably coupled to the rod receptacle and configured to rotate about a second axis to rotate the rod receptacle about the first axis. The rotation of the rod receptacle may change the position of the first rod relative to the actuator.

A door exit device may include a light source for indicating a status of the exit device. The light source may be capable of providing a first indication denoting that the exit device is in a first state (e.g., a dogged state) and a second indication denoting that the exit device is in a second state (e.g., an undogged state). Further, the exit device may include first and second parallel control systems capable of electronically controlling that status of the exit device. In some instances, a first parallel control system may supersede a second parallel control system.

A latching device for a door includes an actuator, a first rod, a second rod, a transom latch, and a side latch having a hook latch head. The actuator may include a rod holder including a lockout configured to inhibit disengagement of a rod from the rod holder. The side latch may be a mortise latch which may include a channel configured to receive a nut for alignment during installation. When installed in an associated door, the latching device may withstand multiple impacts from windborne objects or pressures induced by high winds.

A hook bolt for a latch assembly includes a hook that deploys laterally from a deadbolt when the deadbolt is moved to an extended position. When the deadbolt is actuated, the hook automatically deploys perpendicular to the deadbolt movement to an engaged position within a corresponding opening in a door jamb to secure the door.

An exit device for a door includes an actuator, a first rod, a second rod, a transom latch, and a side latch having a hook latch head. The side latch may be a mortise latch which may include a plurality of grooves for alignment during installation. When installed in an associated door, the exit device may withstand multiple impacts from windborne objects or pressures induced by high winds.

A mount is provided for securing an escutcheon on a door. The mount comprises a plate member having a central aperture and an upper pair of elongated slots and a lower pair of elongated slots. Each of the elongated slots extends parallel to a central longitudinal axis of the plate member. A mounting stud is slidably received in at least one of the upper pair of elongated slots and the lower pair of elongated slots for positioning of the stud relative to the central aperture, wherein the studs can be located at selected distances from the central aperture for alignment with a hole through the door.

An electric latch retraction device for vertical rod door latches includes an automatic adjustment feature including a limit switch and a linear sensor, such as a Hall effect sensor, which detects vertical position. A microcontroller monitors the vertical position of a pivoting retraction lever driven at the pivot by a linear driver. The housing for the electric latch retraction device is preferably external to the door and one end of the retraction lever extends into the door to drive a vertical rod door latch mechanism while an opposed end contacts the limit switch to signal that continued driving of the linear driver will begin to drive the vertical rod door latch. The microcontroller determines from the vertical position of the retraction lever when the limit switch is actuated whether the electric latch retraction device is mounted too high or too low.

An anti-ligature handle and escutcheon for operating a lock. The handle and escutcheon are smoothly curved in all directions to eliminate hanging points and prevent suicide by preventing the attachment of a ligature to the handle or escutcheon. The handle is curved to allow fingers to be inserted behind the handle to pull on the handle. The handle is attached to a handle plate that slides behind an escutcheon plate portion of the escutcheon. Multiple ligature traps in the form of an inverted 'V' are positioned in parallel offset rows between the handle plate and the escutcheon plate to prevent the insertion of a ligature around the handle and handle plate.
