A waveform capture device (WCD) is a flexible measurement system capable of recording complex digital signals on trillionth-of-a-second (ps) time scales. The WCD may be implemented via modular code on an off-the-shelf field-programmable gate-array (FPGA), and incorporates both time-to-digital converter (TDC) and digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) functionality. The device captures a waveform by taking snapshots of a signal as it propagates down an ultra-fast transmission line known as a carry chain (CC). It may be calibrated via a dynamic phase-shifting (DPS) method that requires substantially less data and resources than conventional techniques.

Systems, devices, and methods for generating a unique fingerprint are described herein. For example, an example integrated circuit (IC) chip includes a physically unclonable function (PUF) and an auxiliary circuit. The PUF is a hybrid Boolean network. Additionally, the auxiliary circuit is configured to receive a transient response enable signal.

Systems and methods using hybrid Boolean networks as physically unclonable functions

A method for generating dynamical systems that can be instantiated on reconfigurable computing platforms for solving instances of the Boolean satisfiability problem (SAT) is disclosed. When the SAT instance can be satisfied by an appropriate assignment of the variables, the dynamical system has a fixed point attractor that corresponds to a satisfying assignment of variables. When the SAT instance cannot be satisfied by any assignment of variables, there is no such fixed point attractor. Exemplary embodiments represent a physically-realizable computing device that solves SAT problems outside the Turing machine paradigm. Exemplary embodiments detect when the system reaches a fixed point attractor.

Method of constructing dynamical systems for solving Boolean satisfiability

A method for target detection includes: receiving input data via an input signal; generating a histogram from the received data by a processor; rank-ordering the received data based on power or amplitude of the received input signal; comparing the ranked data received in a current time period to the ranked data received in a previous time period to calculate a Bivariate Conditional Exceedance function (BCEF); utilizing the calculated BCEF to estimate a Gumbel Copula parameter; accumulating a log-likelihood statistic from the estimated Gumbel Copula parameter and the generated histogram; comparing the log-likelihood statistic with a threshold value; and determining a detection of the target, when the log-likelihood statistic is below the threshold value.
