An end fitting () for a flexible pipe is disclosed. The end fitting comprises a window () and a cavity () disposed in the end fitting radially inwards of the window and configured to be in fluid communication with an annulus of the flexible pipe, wherein at least a portion of the cavity () is visible from the exterior of the end fitting via the window. The end fitting further comprises a dissolvable or dispersible material disposed within the cavity or in fluid communication with the cavity.

End fitting apparatus and method

A method and apparatus for locating respective end regions of wires of an armour layer of a segment of flexible pipe body at a respective desired positions in an end fitting, and apparatus for terminating a segment of flexible pipe body in an end fitting are disclosed. The method comprises providing an annular element radially around an exposed region of an armour layer, of flexible pipe body, that comprises a plurality of wires; locating the annular element against a terminal end of a first collar member disposed radially around the armour layer; bending the wires away from a longitudinal axis of the flexible pipe body against a guiding surface of the annular element, at a predetermined location; urging the annular element away from the first collar member in a first direction; and gripping the wires between an abutment region of the guiding surface and a cooperating abutment surface of a further collar member thereby locating respective end regions of the wires at respective desired positions in an end fitting.

Gripping body

Methods and apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus includes a substantially cylindrical mount body () comprising a first open mouth at a first end of the cylindrical body () and a further open mouth at a remaining end of the cylindrical body, a substantially cylindrical inner surface, and an outer surface that includes a plurality of spaced apart substantially parallel recessed regions that extends circumferentially around the body, wherein the cylindrical body () is tapered at each end and at least one securing element is located between the recessed regions.

Mounting and cathodic protection

Flexible pipe body, a flexible pipe and a method of manufacturing pipe body are disclosed. The flexible pipe body comprises a tensile armour layer and a supporting layer radially outside, or radially inside, and in an abutting relationship with the tensile armour layer. The supporting layer comprises a helically wound constraining tape element and a helically wound electrically conductive tape element.

Provision of electrical continuity and/or radial support

A flexible pipe body and a method of providing electrical continuity are disclosed. The flexible pipe body comprises a first armour layer formed from a helical winding of a metal tape element, a further armour layer formed from a helical winding of a further metal tape element, and at least one intermediate layer between the first and further armour layers, said intermediate layer comprising a helically wound electrically insulating tape element (800, 800, 800, 800, 800) and a helically wound electrically conductive tape element (810, 810, 810, 810, 810).

Connecting and cathodic protection

An elongate tape element (), a flexible pipe body and method of producing a flexible pipe body are disclosed. The tape element has a cross-sectional profile comprising a body portion () for being positioned between collapse resistant tape windings such that each body portion lies at least partially in a gap () between adjacent collapse resistant tape windings (); and at least one wing portion () extending from an end region of the body portion (), the at least one wing portion () configured to span the gap () and respectively abut with a radially inner surface of an adjacent collapse resistant tape winding ().

Elongate tape element and method

A seal ring, a method of providing a fluid seal and end fitting are disclosed. The seal ring which provides a fluid seal between a polymer layer and an end fitting of a flexible pipe comprises an annular body that has a cross section comprising a first arm portion () and further arm portion () extending in a spaced apart relationship away from a body end portion ().

Apparatus and a method are disclosed for limiting contact pressure between a flexible pipe and a bending guide member. The apparatus includes a bending guide member extending over a covered region of a flexible pipe in which the flexible pipe can bend wherein a gap between an inner surface of the bending guide member and an outer surface on the flexible pipe in at least a portion of the covered region is tapered and narrows towards an unconstrained end of the bending guide member.

Contact pressure limitation

An end fitting (), flexible pipe (), riser (), and method of producing the same are disclosed. A method of venting gas from annuli () of a flexible pipe is also disclosed. The end fitting includes a first vent flow fluid communication path () and a further vent flow fluid communication path (). The end fitting is capable of enabling gas to be vented from a flexible pipe body with two annulus regions ().

Gas venting

A flexible pipe body and method of producing a flexible pipe body are disclosed. The flexible pipe body includes an inner fluid retaining layer; an armour layer provided radially outwards of the inner fluid retaining layer; and a buoyancy layer including a plurality of discrete elongate buoyancy elements provided radially outwards of the fluid retaining layer wound at a helical pitch angle equal to or more than 0 degrees and less than about 85 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the flexible pipe body.
