An integrated circuit includes an array of pixels for capturing and processing successive image frames of a moving scene, the array including at least one row of pixels (inputs); and at least one current value register, in which the current value register is configured to store current pixel values captured from the array (inputs). Also included is at least one set of multiple accumulated value registers, in which each accumulated value register is configured to communicate with the current value register. Furthermore, there is included at least one readout register, in which the readout register is configured to communicate with the set of accumulated value registers. A controller is also included for shifting and summing the rows of pixels and outputting a summed column as a time delayed integrated (TDI) signal.

A passive phased array imager includes a plurality of antennas, disposed on a substrate, for receiving a wavefront from a target; and a coplanar waveguide, disposed in the substrate and coupled to the plurality of antennas. Also included is a plurality of detectors, disposed across the coplanar waveguide for sampling the received wavefront, and providing multiple output voltages to an imaging circuit for displaying information contained in the received wavefront. The plurality of antennas includes at least two dipoles coupled to the coplanar waveguide, and the two dipoles are spaced by a predetermined length to provide a standing wave at a frequency of interest.

Passive phased array imager using sub-phase sampling CMOS detectors and a smart ROIC

A focal plane array (FPA) imaging sensor includes an array of multiple tuning cells disposed on a monolithic substrate, in which each tuning cell includes: (a) a tunable etalon disposed in the monolithic substrate, and (b) a THz detector assembly comprised of at least two antennae disposed in the monolithic substrate. The THz detector assembly is disposed below the tunable etalon. Each tunable etalon includes a Fabry-P&#xe9;rot interferometer comprised of upper and lower mirrors, spaced by a gap between the mirrors, the gap forming an etalon of the interferometer. The FPA imaging sensor may also be formed as a hybrid, in which portions of the tuning cells are fabricated separately from the THz detector assembly and aligned to each other. The lower mirrors may also be fabricated monolithically with the substrate and the upper mirrors may be formed separately and then aligned to the lower mirrors.

The present invention relates to a system for modifying wavefronts of electromagnetic waves. The system includes a flexible mirror having an obverse surface and a reverse surface. The obverse surface has a contour configured to reflect the electromagnetic waves. The system also includes a plurality of actuators positioned along the reverse surface of the mirror for applying at least one transverse magnetic force to the flexible mirror to modify the contour of the obverse surface. Modifying the contour of the obverse surface of the mirror modifies the wavefronts of the electromagnetic waves.

A method for obtaining a modulation transfer function (MTF) of a knife-edge target imaged by an electro-optical device is described. The method includes the steps of: (a) obtaining edge response data points, where a data point includes a perpendicular distance, d, to the knife-edge target; and (b) constructing a sequence of line slopes of the edge response data points, where a line slope includes a spread of edge response data points. The method then selects a line slope that minimizes the spread of edge response data points, and calculates the MTF, based on the edge response data points included in the selected line slope. The MTF is provided to a user. An edge response data point is defined by a pair of values of (d, E) of a pixel, where distance, d, is the shortest distance between the pixel and a line slope and the pixel has an intensity value, E.

A parallel plate wave-guide structure in a layered flexible/formable medium for transmitting complementary signals, including: at least two parallel signal conductor plates, placed in substantially close proximity, separated by a conductor-to-conductor dielectric material, and having a controlled impedance contained between the at least two parallel complementary signal conductor plates dominated by odd mode propagation of transverse wave components between the at least two parallel complementary signal conductor plates; at least two parallel reference plates forming a parallel plate reference system parallel to and surrounding the at least two parallel complementary signal conductor plates; dielectric materials that are contained between each of the at least two parallel complementary signal conductor plates and a corresponding parallel reference plate; a partial rectangular wave-guide structure comprised of the parallel plate reference system, such that each of the at least two parallel reference plates are electrically interconnected periodically.
