An apparatus for conveying bulk material generally consisting of a support, a guide member defining a passageway providing a circuitous path, having a base section supported on the support and a section cantilevered relative to the support; at least two sprockets disposed in such passageway and rotatably supported on the guide member, one of such sprockets being disposed in the cantilevered section of the guide member and having a substantially vertically disposed axis of rotation; a rope assembly including an endless rope disposed in the passageway along the circuitous path and reeved around the sprockets, and a plurality of discs spaced along such rope, and a motor for driving one of the sprockets, wherein the guide member includes a inlet communicating with the passageway for feeding material therein and a discharge outlet communicating with the passageway about a portion of the periphery of the one socket.

Method of transporting bulk particulate materials

An apparatus for conveying bulk material generally consisting of a support and a guide means defining a passageway. The passageway has a vertical section and a horizontal section cantilevered to the vertical section. A endless rope assembly passes around the passageway. Disc are displaced along the rope to catch and transfer bulk material along the passageway. The bulk material is injected into the passageway at the lower end of the vertical section and is ejected at the end of the horizontal section. A motor drives sprockets located at the ends of the passageway and at the cantilevered portion. Such guide means may consist of a single passageway or a pair of passageways of differing lengths, and such support may be movable on wheels.

Apparatus for transporting bulk materials

In a rotary valve including a housing having a rotor chamber and a drive shaft journaled in the housing and having an end portion thereof projecting into the rotor chamber, a rotor mountable on the drive shaft within the rotor chamber comprising a solitary body of plastic material having a cylindrical wall provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets machined-out therein, means for detachably mounting the body on the drive shaft and means for securing the body to the drive shaft when mounted thereon.

Valve rotor

A rotor for a rotary valve of the type including a housing providing a rotor chamber with a material inlet and a material outlet and a drive shaft journaled in said housing for supporting said rotor in said rotor chamber. The rotor includes a rotor shaft operatively connectable to the drive shaft and disposable in said rotor chamber. The rotor shaft has a plurality of longitudinally disposed, circumferentially spaced between recesses in which an edge of a plurality of vanes are received. The recesses include a slot preferably with a dovetail cross-sectional configuration, with the edge of the vanes having a comparable cross-sectional configuration. A pair of shrouds are included on either side of the vanes.

Fabricated rotor for rotary valves

A method of making a rotor for a rotary valve including cutting a round slug of a plastic material to a desired length, turning the round slug on a lathe to provide a desired outside diameter, milling the slug on a vertical milling machine to form a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets, each of the pockets having rounded wall junctures and corners on a vertical milling machine, and milling an axial hole in the slug for receiving an end portion of a drive shaft.

A diverter valve adapted for use in a pneumatic conveying system for transporting bulk materials comprising a housing having a chamber provided with a cylindrical wall, the cylindrical wall having an inlet port communicating with an inlet passageway in the housing and first and second outlet ports communicating with first and second passageways in the housings, respectively, a rotor disposed in the chamber and having a cylindrical wall disposed in opposed relation to the chamber cylindrical wall, the rotor cylindrical wall having first and second ports and an intercommunicating passageway, the rotor ports being spaced apart a sufficient distance whereby upon the rotor being rotated into a first position relative to the housing, the first rotor port will register with the housing inlet port and the second rotor port will register with the first housing outlet port to intercommunicate the housing inlet passageway with the first housing outlet passageway, and upon the rotor being rotated into a second position relative to the housing, the second rotor port will register with the housing inlet port and the first rotor port will register with the second housing outlet port to intercommunicate the housing inlet passageway with the second housing outlet passageway, the rotor cylindrical wall having a groove disposed about each port thereof and an inflatable seal disposed in each of the grooves.
