Modular industrial touchscreen enclosure

A modular electrical assembly that includes a first enclosure that physically couples to a second enclosure to form a modular stackup arrangement. The first enclosure having a connection to an electrical ground for discharging electrostatic discharge (ESD) energy of ESD events of the modular electrical assembly. The first enclosure configured to enclose first circuitry and comprising at least one generally flat surface to electrically couple to the second enclosure. The second enclosure configured to enclose second circuitry and comprising at least one surface with a plurality of raised contact nodes arranged such that when in contact with the one surface of the first enclosure electrostatic discharge energy is directed over the raised contact nodes to the one surface of the first enclosure for discharging portions of the ESD energy through the electrical ground of the first enclosure.

Electrostatic discharge protection for modular equipment

The disclosed subject matter comprises a display retention bracket (DRB) that can be attached to, and can retain and horizontally mount, a display using display retention components, without using fasteners, for insertion of the display in a bezel that does not support horizontal mounting; and includes: a cable retention component that enables the cable to withstand a specified pull-out force to maintain connection of the cable to the display; a cable guide to maintain cable wires in a desired position in relation to other components; alignment pins to align the DRB and display with a bezel housing; non-symmetrical tabs to ensure the display is oriented correctly; offset columns that desirably offset loads on the display when an adapter plate is applied onto the DRB and display, and fastened to the bezel to secure the display; and a ground clip to extend the ground path from the bezel to the display.

Display mounting techniques

What is disclosed is a modular visualization display panel. The modular visualization display panel includes a first module having at least one surface and a connection to electrical ground. The modular visualization display panel also includes a second module having at least one surface with a plurality of raised contact nodes arranged on the one surface of the second module such that when in contact with the one surface of the first module electrostatic discharge energy is directed over at least one of the raised contact nodes to the one surface of the first module.

An enclosure for electronics includes a body with a metal component and a polymeric component overmolded onto the metal component so as to be connected to the metal component without fasteners. The body defines a recess. A heat sink is defined in the metal component. A printed circuit board is located in the recess and includes a plurality of electronic components mounted thereon. The polymeric component includes at least one attachment feature that captures the printed circuit board at a select location in the recess such that: (i) at least a first one of the electronic components is electrically connected to a contact region of the metal component that is exposed through a portion of said polymeric component; (ii) at least a second one of the electronic components is electrically isolated from the metal component by an electrical isolation zone of the polymeric component; and (ii) at least a third one of the electronic components is located adjacent a thermal transfer region of the metal component that underlies the heat sink. The thermal transfer region is uncovered by the polymeric component so as to be exposed in the recess.

Overmolded electronics enclosure

The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or method that facilitates expanding upon an existing universal serial bus (USB). A base component can include a USB host to provide connectivity to at least one device. An expansion module can physically connect in a vertical position to a backside of the base component to provide a replication of the USB host which can allow a device to connect therewith.
