There is disclosed a technique for detecting the presence of a pointing device at an interactive surface, which interactive surface is provided with an illumination field for detecting a contact point.

Touch device detection

There is disclosed a method of controlling the positioning of an object displayed on an interactive display surface, in which interactive display surface the display resolution is greater than the detection resolution, the method comprising: determining selection of a displayed object on the interactive display surface; detecting movement of an input at the interactive display surface associated with the selected displayed object; and in an object transformation mode, moving at least one displayed pixel of the selected displayed object by a distance which is less than the distance of the detected movement of the detected input.

Fine object positioning

An interactive display system comprises a white board which communicates with a PC. A projector receives signals from the PC which are translated into corresponding projection image which is projected on to the white board. The image projected on to the white board is the same as that shown on a computer screen. By using an electronic pen the position of which can be detected electronically by means of a plurality of wires embedded beneath the surface of the white board and using methods already known in the art, the electronic pen can function the same way as a computer mouse. The image projected on to the white board may also be manipulated by means of a remote control device, which uses infra red communication to transmit signals to a transponder built within the white board.
