A high-pressure liquid projection assembly for cleaning and/or deburring industrial parts, having a housing with an inlet adapted for connection with a pressurized liquid source, an outlet and a fluid passageway connecting the inlet to the outlet. A fluid chamber is formed in the housing and disposed around an intermediate portion of the passageway. At least one opening is formed in the housing which fluidly connects the chamber to the passageway while a control port on the housing is fluidly connected to the chamber. The control port is adapted to be connected to a variable flow pressurized liquid source to thereby vary the projection cone pattern from the outlet as a function of the valve opening.

High-pressure pulse nozzle assembly

A conveyor system having a plurality of conveyor modules which are secured together in an end-to-end relationship. Each conveyor module includes a frame and a plurality of drive rollers rotatably mounted along one side of the frame, and a motor mounted to the frame is drivingly connected to the drive rollers. A first upper guide is also mounted to the frame at a position spaced upwardly from the drive rollers. At least one work support includes a lower rail supported by the drive rollers and an upper follower slidably positioned within the upper guide.

Modular accumulating conveyor system

A water jet is disclosed having a tank which forms a reservoir containing a liquid, such as water. An elongated conduit has one end fluidly connected to the reservoir while a nozzle is connected to the other end of the conduit. This nozzle, furthermore, has an opening with a cross-sectional area less than the cross-sectional area of the conduit. A valve is connected in series between the conduit and the reservoir, and this valve is movable between an open and a closed position. The reservoir is pressurized to a pressure in the range of 30-300 psi so that, once the valve is opened, water flows through the conduit and out through the nozzle at a high pressure and high speed water jet. This water jet can be used, inter alia, to clean industrial parts, such as engine blocks.

Water jet

An apparatus for cleaning a passage in an engine block, such as the oil galley and oil galley legs, in which the passage includes an inlet and an outlet end. The apparatus includes a fixture having an interior passageway with an opening. The fixture is dimensioned to abut against the engine block so that the opening in the fixture registers with the engine block passage outlet. An air induction source is then fluidly connected to the fixture passageway so that, upon actuation of the air induction source, the air induction source inducts air through the engine block passage, through the fixture opening, and through the fixture passageway. A feeder containing abrasive shot is then coupled to the engine block passage inlet so that, upon actuation of the air induction source, the abrasive shot is inducted through the engine block passage and into the fixture passageway.

Apparatus for cleaning engine block passages

An escapement is provided for use in conjunction with a conveyor having a frame which defines a plane on which articles are conveyed along a predetermined direction of movement. The escapement includes a housing which is pivotally secured to the conveyor frame about a first axis which is perpendicular to the predetermined direction of movement of articles on the conveyor. The housing includes a portion which is radially spaced from the first axis while a resilient shock absorber is disposed between the housing portion and the conveyor frame. A stop bar is movably mounted to the housing between an engage and a release position. In the engage position, one end of the stop bar is positioned above the conveyor plane so that, with the stop bar in the engage position, the stop bar prevents the passage of articles on the conveyor past the stop bar. Conversely, in its release position, the stop bar is retracted below the conveyor plane thus releasing articles for further movement on the conveyor past the stop bar.

Conveyor escapement

A method for cleaning and drying industrial parts, such as crankshafts, engine blocks and the like, is disclosed. The part is first washed in a cleaning solution which is typically water based and may contain degreasing agents. Thereafter, the part is spun at a speed and for a time period sufficient to eject most of the water remaining on the part by centripetal force. Thereafter, the part is subjected to a vacuum sufficient to remove substantially all of the remaining solution on the part.

Method for cleaning and drying an industrial part

A modular roller conveyor system is disclosed having a first and second pair of elongated vertical supports. The first pair of vertical supports are adjustably secured together so that the first pair of supports are spaced apart and parallel to each other at a user selected spacing between the first pair of vertical supports. Similarly, the second pair of vertical supports are also adjustably secured together so that the second pair of vertical supports are spaced apart and parallel to each other at the same user selected spacing. A first elongated rail is then secured to the upper end of one of the first pair of vertical supports and to the upper end of one of the second pair of vertical supports. A second rail is then secured to the upper end of the other of both the first and second pair of vertical supports so that the rails are spaced apart and parallel to each other. A plurality of spaced roller assemblies are then disposed between and supported by the rails thus forming the conveyor path along which articles are conveyed.

Modular roller conveyor system

A roller conveyor system is disclosed having a frame with a pair of spaced apart rails and at least one roller assembly having an elongated shaft. A first bearing assembly is secured to one rail while a second bearing assembly is secured to the other rail so that the bearing assemblies are aligned with each other and each bearing assembly includes an inner and outer race. The elongated roller shaft extends through the inner races of the bearing assemblies so that a flat formed on the shaft is radially aligned with the inner race of one of the bearing assemblies. A threaded fastener is then threadably secured to the bearing inner race and has one end adapted to abut against the shaft flat. With the fastener in abutment with the shaft flat, the other end of the fastener is substantially flush with an outer surface of the bearing race. An annular collar is then positioned over the outer surface of the bearing inner race and this collar has an inner diameter substantially the same as the outer diameter of the bearing inner race to thus hold the fastener in abutment with the shaft flat. At least one roller is then secured to an intermediate point of the shaft.

Roller conveyor system

A melt tank is disclosed having a plurality of cartridges wherein each cartridge is adapted to hold at least one molded part. An annular tank is provided having an open top while a substantially circular plate is coaxially rotatably mounted to the top of the annular tank. The circular plate includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings formed around its outer periphery wherein each opening is adapted to slidably receive and support one cartridge. The annular tank is filled with a heated liquid while a motor rotatably drives the plate with the molded parts immersed in the heated liquid. A robotic gantry selectively lifts the cartridges from the circular plate to enable the removal of finished melted out parts as well as the insertion of new molded over parts into the cartridges.

Melt tank assembly

A conveyor system is disclosed for transporting workpieces. The conveyor system includes an elongated frame having an inlet end and an outlet end. A pair of sprockets are rotatably mounted to both the inlet end and outlet end while a pair of closed loop chains are mounted around the sprockets so that the chains are spaced apart and parallel to each other along the frame. A motor rotatably drives the sprockets and thus the chains along the frame. A plurality of pallets, each adapted to support a workpiece, are slidably mounted to the chains by rollers so that the pallets can move longitudinally with respect to the chains. A cam is secured to the sprockets at both the inlet and outlet ends of the conveyor frame. These cams engage a cam follower on the pallet to raise the pallets from a lower section of the chain to an upper section at the inlet end of the conveyor frame and vice versa at the outlet end of the conveyor frame. The frame is formed from F-shaped extensions which support and guide the chain.

Conveyor system

A conveyor system having a frame with a first and second elongated rail which are spaced apart and parallel to each other. A plurality of first power and free rollers are rotatably mounted to the first rail while, similarly, a plurality of power and free rollers are rotatably mounted to the second rail so that the first rollers define a first conveyor line while the second rollers define a second conveyor line. At least one pallet which supports a work piece has a lower surface which is adapted to be supported and propelled by even the first or second rollers along the first or second conveyor line. A turn table is provided at one end of the first and second conveyor lines for transferring the pallet from the first conveyor line to the second conveyor line. The turn table includes at least one conveyor line section and a motor for rotating the turn table between the first position in which the conveyor line section is in line with the first conveyor line, and the second position is which the conveyor line section is in line with the second conveyor line.

Conveyor system with turn table transferring means

An apparatus is disclosed for washing and then drying industrial parts. The apparatus includes a housing having an inlet for receiving the parts to be washed and an outlet for discharging the parts after drying. A first conveyor has one end positioned adjacent the housing inlet for receiving the incoming parts to be washed, and a second conveyor having one end adjacent the housing outlet. The conveyors are preferably positioned in a side by side relationship and are constructed from an endless chain. A motor drives the first and second conveyors. A liquid sprayer has a plurality of outlet nozzles positioned above the first conveyor so that liquid washing fluid is directed against parts on the first conveyor. A transfer rail transfers the parts from the first conveyor to the second conveyor after washing and an air blower having a plurality of air outlet nozzles are directed towards the parts on the second conveyor to thereby dry the parts prior to their discharge from the housing outlet.

Part washing and drying machine

A conveyor system is disclosed for transporting workpieces. The conveyor system includes an elongated frame having an inlet end and an outlet end. A pair of sprockets are rotatably mounted to both the inlet end and outlet end while a pair of closed loop chains are mounted around the sprockets so that the chains are spaced apart and parallel to each other along the frame. A motor rotatably drives the sprockets and thus the chains along the frame. A plurality of pallets, each adapted to support a workpiece, are slidably mounted to the chains by rollers so that the pallets can move longitudinally with respect to the chains. A cam is secured to the sprockets at both the inlet and outlet ends of the conveyor frame. These cams engage a cam follower on the pallet to raise the pallets from a lower section of the chain to an upper section at the inlet end of the conveyor frame and vice versa at the outlet end of the conveyor frame.

A device is disclosed for separating hydrocarbon products such as cutting oil from water. The device includes a receiving tank defining a reservoir which receives a mixture of water and oil. The oil floats above the water and thus forms an upper layer in the receiving tank. A skimmer skims the upper layer from the receiving tank and channels the skimmed portion to a pumping chamber. A venturi jet pump then pumps the skimmed portion from the pumping chamber to a settling tank which then separates the oil and water. The skimmer includes floats which vary the depth of the skimmer as a function of the liquid level in the receiving tank.
