A machine includes an engine that includes a plurality of cylinders, one or more controllers, and a monitoring and reporting module. The monitoring and reporting module receives, from the one or more controllers, and via a first data link of the machine, cylinder pressure data associated with the plurality of cylinders and stores the cylinder pressure data in a data structure. The monitoring and reporting module receives, from the one or more controllers, and via a second data link of the machine, operational information associated with the engine and determines, based on the operational information, that one or more trigger criteria are satisfied. The monitoring and reporting module generates, based on determining that the one or more trigger criteria are satisfied, a data file that includes a portion of the cylinder pressure data and transmits the data file to a device not included in the machine.

Optimized high-speed cylinder pressure data retrieval and reporting

Operating a gaseous fuel engine system includes detecting preignition in one or more of a plurality of cylinders based on a monitored cylinder pressure during combustion of a gaseous fuel such as a gaseous hydrogen fuel. Operating a gaseous fuel engine system also includes reducing a fuel injection amount for the one or more of the plurality of cylinders to a derated fuel injection amount that is based on a timing of the detected preignition. Fuel injection amount may be reduced to a greater relative extent if detected preignition is early, and to a lesser relative extent if detected preignition is later, in an engine cycle. Related apparatus and control logic is also disclosed.

Preignition mitigation strategy for gaseous fuel engine

A device may determine a timing configuration for an ignition system. The device may pulse a driver to apply a set of resonant voltage pulses to the ignition system. The set of resonant voltage pulses may cause a set of increasing peak voltages. At least one peak voltage, of the set of increasing peak voltages, may satisfy a threshold to cause a spark in a spark plug of the ignition system.

A method of evaluating operability of a gaseous fuel admission valve of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The method includes operating the internal combustion engine on gaseous fuel by repeatedly actuating the gaseous fuel admission valve. The method further includes measuring a sequence of temporal developments of an electrical operation parameter respectively associated with an actuation of the gaseous fuel admission valve. The sequence includes a first temporal development to be evaluated and a plurality of temporal developments preceding the first temporal development. The method also includes evaluating operability of the gaseous fuel admission valve based on the first temporal development of the measured sequence and at least one of the plurality of preceding temporal developments of the measured sequence.

In an aspect, a gas admission system includes a gas admission valve assembly having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve configured to control a flow of fluid between the inlet and the outlet and a flow limiter assembly in fluid communication with the inlet of the gas admission valve assembly.
