A dual action truck cover provides two modes, actions or ways to access contents in a truck bed. Side rails can be mountable to a cargo box so as to be pivotable between a raised position to provide a rear opening in an open pivot arrangement, and a lowered or closed pivot arrangement. The side rails can be spaced apart to define an inter-rail area therebetween. A door can include a plurality of elements hingedly coupled together and extending between the side rails and movable between a closed door arrangement wherein the elements cover the inter-rail area, and an open door arrangement in which the elements are positioned to permit access through the inter-rail area. The door can move between the open and closed arrangements by rolling up the hingedly coupled elements together or folding the elements together.

A rear lift gate can be hingedly coupled to a truck cap body and movable between a lowered closed position and a raised open position. The rear lift gate can include a lower margin having a convex shape generally corresponding to an outward or rearward convex upper margin of the tailgate. The rear lift gate can further include a seal strip mounted to an interior side of the lower margin of the rear lift gate. The convex lower margin of the rear lift gate can overlay the convex upper margin of the exterior side of the tailgate with the seal strip of the interior side of the lower margin of the rear lift gate sealing against the exterior side of the convex upper margin of the tailgate when the rear lift gate is in the lowered closed position.

A frame can include front and back generally vertically and laterally extending frame members. The frame members can each have a generally trapezoidal configuration comprising a crossbeam portion extending generally laterally between two generally upwardly and laterally inwardly extending side leg portions. A rigid, non-collapsible shell can extend over the frame that is adapted to be supported on the truck body. The rigid, non-collapsible shell can include opposite side walls and a roof extending between the side walls. A plurality of posts can be attached to the frame through the roof, with each of the posts extending externally above the roof of the rigid, non-collapsible shell. A first rack can be attached to and can extend between at least two of the posts externally of the rigid, non-collapsible shell overlying the roof.

A cap for the cargo bed of a pickup truck has a rigid internal frame with spaced front and rear frame members connected by longitudinally extending upper side rails and longitudinally extending bottom plates, said frame being supported on side walls of the pickup truck. A lightweight shell extends over the rigid frame and is supported on the side walls of the truck. A plurality of posts are attached to the side rails and extend vertically through holes formed in the shell and have one or more storage racks attached to the posts whereby all of the weight of the storage racks and cargo supported thereon is transmitted through the internal frame and supported by the truck body. The frame members are formed of T-slotted members providing support for sundry items inside the shell.

The truck cap assembly includes a truck cap pivotally engaged at one end with a region of the cargo hold, said truck cap being pivotable between an open position and a closed position; an aperture defined in the truck cap and extending between a top surface and a bottom surface thereof; said aperture being in communication with an interior of the cargo hold; and a door assembly provided on the truck cap and being movable between a closed position where access to the aperture is blocked and an open position where the aperture is accessible. The door assembly includes a door that is complementary in size and shape to the aperture and the door is movable, particularly pivotable, relative to a top surface of the truck cap.
