A computer system comprises a computer server configured to communicate via a communication network to user computer devices including a target user computer device of a target user. Coupled to the computer server is a processor having access to social network data, user browser data of the target user, relationship data, and content data. The processor is configured to provide dynamically determined targeted content to be communicated to the target user computer device. The processor implements a recommendation service configured to analyze context of the target user based on browse history of the target user computer device, behavior data of the target user, demographic information of the target user, and social network momentum data. The recommendation service includes a social momentum recommendation engine configured to recommend the targeted content based on an amount of social momentum of content independent of and distinct from the browser data of the target user.

Certain embodiments of this disclosure describe techniques for detecting a spoofed network device and preventing the serving of content, such as advertisements, to the spoofed network device. In certain embodiments, a network security system is provided. The network security system can include hardware and/or software programmed to prevent the provision of content to a spoofed client device. The network security system can provide a mechanism for certifying to content providers, such as advertisers, whether or not a client is a legitimate mobile device or a spoofed device. Accordingly, content providers can prevent the delivery of content to fraudulent devices instead of relying on imprecise solutions that detect fraudulent activity after it has occurred.

Network device detection and verification protocol

Methods of generating recommendations may include obtaining social network data from one or more network resources. Word relationships may be created between selected words in the social network data to produce relationship data. Advertisement or other asset recommendations may be generated for a target user by analyzing browse information of the target user to identify one or more words. Other words in the relationship data may be identified that are related to the words in the target user's browse information. One or more advertisements may be identified having at least one keyword that corresponds to the other words. At least a portion of these advertisements may be selected from a data repository to provide to the target user.

Systems and methods for targeted advertising

A system and method are provided for conducting a client-server application (e.g., instant messaging, VoIP telephony) using non-persistent communications. Clients issue periodic heartbeat messages to a connectionless server using a non-persistent (e.g., UDP) communication protocol. The heartbeat messages identify the clients by unique client identifiers. When an application server has an unsolicited communication for a client (e.g., a new instant message, a VoIP call), the application server retrieves the client's address from the connectionless server if it does not already have the address. The application server forwards the unsolicited communication to the client via a non-persistent communication, and may spoof the connectionless server if necessary to reach the client through a firewall, proxy, NAT or similar entity. Clients that cannot use non-persistent protocols establish persistent connections with a client manager. The client manager issues heartbeat messages to the connectionless server and receives and forwards unsolicited communications for these clients.

A service is provided through an apparatus operative under Internet Protocol (IP) as part of the Internet to handle packet switched voice traffic according to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to control incoming packet switched control traffic by fielding SIP control traffic and substituting control signals that can traverse a firewall and handle Network Access Traversal (NAT) over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. To this end, a client behind a firewall initiates an outbound multimedia stream via a conventional voice path according to the Realtime Transport Protocol (RTP) to a SIP gateway, which in turn routes voice traffic via the Internet to the client using an XML interface to bypass the SIP-designated ports. The interface bridges the firewall and is supported by a server on the Internet that handles conventional SIP UDP interface traffic.
