A kit for joining a fluid conduit to a fluid-based heat-transfer device includes a hose and a port body with a port-body-hose end with a port-body-hose opening, a port-body-connector end with a port-body-connector opening, and a port-body bore extending between the port-body-hose opening and the port-body-connector opening. A port aperture passes through an exterior wall and in fluid communication with the port-body bore. The port-body-hose opening is sealingly, non-rotatably, and non-removably joined to the first hose end. A first connector nut is rotatably and non-removably coupled to the port-body-connector opening. A second connector nut rotatably and non-removably coupled to the second hose end. Upstream and downstream tailpieces each have a conduit end sealingly connectable to respective upstream-fluid and downstream-fluid conduits and each have a connector end removably and selectively connectable to the first connector nut and the second connector nut. A system and method are also disclosed.

Pressure-temperature port connections for heat-transfer devices

A fluid flow rate sensor, which may also be the basis of a valve for a fire suppression system, uses a sensing arm to convey motion of an obturation body or a valve closing member to a sensor system which evaluates the motion and generates a calibrated measure of the flow rate and/or an alarm signal in response if warranted. The obturation body and the valve closing member are capable of both rotation and translational motion, both of which are sensed using the sensing arm. The sensor system is isolated from the fluid within the valve.

Calibrated flow rate sensing and flow control device

A coupling used to connect structural tubing includes segments surrounding a central space which receives the tubing. Teeth on an inner surface of the segments project toward the central space and form zones of deformation in the tubing upon engagement with the tubes' outer surfaces. Ends of the tubing abut one or more tongues on the inner surface, and observation apertures in the segments permit visual confirmation that the tubing is seated. Relief pockets on the inner surfaces of the segments receive portions of the tubing which deform outwardly. An insert may be present in the central space. The insert defines a space between itself and the inner surfaces of the segments which receives the tubing. The insert has relief channels which receive deformed regions of the tubing corresponding to the zones of deformation.
