An integrated multi-platform user interface/user experience enables a user to enjoy an online experience including watching/viewing content, receiving offers and participating with the content. The user interface includes a full screen mode, a split-screen mode, features to receive contextually-related content, uploading and sharing content capabilities, and many additional functions/options.

A personalized integrated video user experience enables a user to view full screen streaming content utilizing an overlaid user interface to navigate throughout the experience. Included in the experience is scrubber branding as well as embedded unlockable contextual content that is presented to the user at specified times. The embedded unlockable or promotion of either digital contextual content or physical contextual goods is related to the content being streamed and enhances the user experience by enabling the user to perform additional actions such as purchasing items and acquiring additional information. An NFC-enabled or Bluetooth&#xae; device is able to be used to authenticate the experience as well as navigate content and interact with the streaming experience for an educational experience.

Multiple dimensions of commerce and streaming data are able to be used to provide advanced user profiling and realtime commerce choices. By performing site and experience analytics, video analytics, commerce analytics and user analytics, better commerce choices are able to be presented to the user.

Blu-ray&#x2122; pairing with a video portal is described herein. The pairing capabilities are able to be stored on the Blu-ray&#x2122; disc. Additionally, analytics are stored on the Blu-ray&#x2122; disc which are able to determine which user took which action (e.g., pressed play, stop, skipped chapters, did not watch a video). By pairing the Blu-ray&#x2122; with a video portal, a user is able to resume a video online where the user left off at on the disc or vice versa. Additionally, from the Blu-ray&#x2122; disc or video portal, a user is able to take social networking actions such as 'liking' on Facebook&#xae;, sending tweets, sharing content. The Blu-ray&#x2122; disc also provides additional interactivity.

Various aspects of a system and method to control playback of digital content are disclosed herein. In accordance with an embodiment, the system includes a first electronic device, which is configured to pair the first electronic device with a unique user account in a server. The pairing is performed by use of an application embedded in a physical storage medium. User viewing information, associated with a content item currently played through the physical storage medium, is communicated by the first electronic device to the server. The playback of the content item is resumed on login to the unique user account on a second electronic device from a last view state of the content item played through the physical storage medium by the first electronic device.

System and method for controlling playback of digital content

A requesting device can browse global file repositories and select a file in a source to be copied to a target directly without having to pass the file through the requesting device. A servlet-established controller can manage and monitor the process.
