Techniques are described herein for normalizing the recipient style of electronic messages while preserving the discernible intent of the sender. Given an electronic message or series of messages with varying visual styles applied to message text and other content, the electronic message may be transformed with a normalized and consistent formatting style that is more pleasing to the recipient, while preserving the sender's discernible intent in stylizing the message.

An improved user interface is provided for displaying a gallery of images showing different formatting options combinations that may be applied to a selected object. When a particular image is selected an associated formatting options combination is automatically applied to the selected object.

Technologies are described for modification of conversation presentation for enhanced user experience. Parts of the conversation may be detected and analyzed for their properties such as who sent a message, who received, when, was anyone left out from or added to the conversation, etc. The extracted properties and analyzed information may then be used to reverse a chronological order of the conversation and present it using interactive features such as collapsing and expanding parts of the presented information, providing a summary, removing unnecessary content, and comparable features.

Techniques for the automatic animation of document content are described. An apparatus may comprise a difference component operative to receive an old layout of a document and a new layout of the document, the new layout corresponding to an application of one or more changes to the old layout of the document, the difference component operative to determine a set of differences between the old layout and the new layout, and an animation layer generation component operative to generate a set of animation layers from the set of differences. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Architecture generates low resolution placeholder content that preserves the usefulness of application responsiveness by preserving and displaying the structure of the content. This facilitates decreased memory requirements associated with pre-rendering structurally-intact content. The architecture enables the storing of pre-rendered content at a lower zoom level than is intended for actual display to require fewer resources, pre-rendering content at a lower zoom level to allow the application to adjust for the lower zoom level to provide more structural integrity than would be achieved rendering at full display zoom level and compressing the resulting data, stretching the pre-rendered content to the zoom level that is intended for display in order to achieve a low resolution appearance that merges directly with the full resolution content, and transitioning between low resolution content and full resolution content when the full resolution content becomes available.

Methods, computer systems, and computer readable media provide for network location overrides for a client to utilize when accessing network hosted services. A client computer obtains network locations for hosted services from a network location, such as a URL of a configuration server. Any overrides providing different network locations for one or more of the hosted services are obtained from a store of the client computer, such as from a system registry provided by the operating system. The network location of an override is then used in place of a network location specified at the configuration server to access the hosted service. The overrides may apply for all applications, certain applications, certain services of an application, or for certain users of the client computer.

Methods and computer systems for directing a client to network locations for network hosted services

Methods and systems authenticate a user of a sub-location of a network location by using a first cookie for authentication within the network location, such as a domain of the world wide web, and also use a second cookie for authentication within a sub-location of the network location. When the user attempts to visit a network location or sub-location within the network location, the server of the network location authenticates the user by obtaining a previously stored cookie from the user's computer and validating it for the network location. Upon being authenticated by the validation, a cookie for a sub-location within the network location is generated for the user and provided to the user's computer. When the user attempts to access the sub-location within the network location, the cookie provided to the user's computer for the sub-location is obtained and validated to authenticate the user for the sub-location.
