Valve stems for use in an aerosol metering valve are described herein. The valve stems include structures designed to limit the likelihood and extent to which a gasket can intrude into an opening in the valve stem. The valve stems described herein also limit the likelihood and extent of damage to the gasket caused by repeated use of the metering valve.

Valve stem for use in a metering valve of a metered dose inhaler

A valve stem for use in an aerosol valve such as a metered dose medicinal aerosol valve is described. The valve stem includes a flattened area around the side hole. The flattened area helps reduce damage to the diaphragm aperture upon repeated actuation of the metered dose inhaler. Also described is a metered dose valve and a metered dose inhaler, each including the flattened valve stem of the present invention.

Stem configuration to reduce seal abrasion in metered dose aerosol valves

A dispenser for dispensing a product from a pressurized product container comprising a housing defining a user port and adapted to have a pressurized product container mounted therein, the pressurized product container having a dispensing valve movable relative to the container between an open and a closed position; the housing further comprising a rolling member comprising a vane, and two associated rolling surfaces, the rolling member being capable of rotation in contact with the rolling surfaces such that they translate in opposite directions relative to the rolling member in response to inhalation through the user port, the rolling member being rotatable between a locking position in which the rolling member directly or indirectly engages the pressurized product container or valve to maintain the valve in the closed position, and a release position in which the valve and the pressurized product container move relative to each other so that the valve moves to the open position to dispense product from the container and towards the user port.

Breath-actuated aerosol dispensers

A metered dose dispensing valve is described that is particularly suitable for dispensing metered volumes of a pressurised aerosol formulation. The valve comprises a chamber, and a valve stem extending into the chamber and movable relative to the chamber between non-dispensing and dispensing positions. The valve stem has a configuration and the chamber has an internal configuration such that a metered volume is defined therebetween and such that during movement between its non-dispensing and dispensing positions the valve stem sequentially: (i) allows free flow of aerosol formulation into the chamber, (ii) defines a closed metered volume for pressurised aerosol formulation between the external surface of the valve stem and internal surface of the chamber, and (iii) moves with the closed metered volume within the chamber without decreasing the volume of the closed metered volume until the metered volume communicates with an outlet passage thereby allowing dispensing of the metered volume of pressurised aerosol formulation.
