A nib assembly for a writing instrument comprises a ferrule having a first end and a second end. The ferrule includes an inner ferrule wall and an outer ferrule wall, the inner ferrule wall and the outer ferrule wall being separated by a well having an opening. A cap has a first end, a second end, and a first cap wall. The first cap wall is sized and shaped to be at least partially received within the well, the first cap wall being disposed at least partially within the well, between the inner ferrule wall and the outer ferrule wall, when the cap is coupled to the ferrule.

A writing instrument includes a barrel having a hollow channel, an open end and a closed end. A cartridge is slidably movable in the hollow channel and the cartridge has a nib in fluid communication with a reservoir. An arm is pivotably mounted to the barrel and a cap is attached to the arm, the cap is adapted to close the open end of the barrel when the arm is in a closed position. As the arm pivots, moving the cap from the closed position to an open position, the cartridge extends toward the open end of the barrel and exposes the nib. When the arm is rotated approximately 180 degrees, the nib is fully extended and ready for use.

A writing instrument includes a travel multiplier mechanism that includes a cam member that pivots about a pivot axis in response to motion of a push button member. The cam member engages a sliding piston member in order to provide a travel multiplying effect such that a distance of travel of the sliding piston member exceeds a distance traveled by the push button member.

Travel multiplier mechanisms for writing instruments

An advancing/retracting mechanism having a pair of cams is disclosed. The advancing/retracting mechanism includes a first cam, a second cam, and a barrel. The first cam includes an angled surface and a shoe, and the second cam includes an angled surface and a slider. The shoe engages with a helical surface in the barrel, and the slider engages with a straight surface in the barrel. The first cam travels a first distance along the longitudinal axis of the barrel from a first to a second state, and the second cam travels a second distance that is greater then the first distance along the longitudinal axis of the barrel from the first to the second state.

Advancing/retracting mechanism

A writing instrument includes a travel multiplier mechanism that includes a cam member that pivots about a pivot axis in response to motion of a push button member. The cam member engages a sliding piston member in order to provide a travel multiplying effect such that a distance of travel of the sliding piston member exceeds a distance traveled by the push button member. The cam member may be configured to rotate about an axis that is located in a plane perpendicular to a primary axis of a barrel of the writing instrument.

The flag dispenser holds a supply of tape flags, such as a folded stack of tape flags, which can be removed through an opening in the dispenser. The flag dispenser can be, for example, a cap that covers the writing tip or an attachment that affixes to an end of the body portion. In another embodiment, a writing instrument has a body portion, a writing tip, a flag dispenser integrally incorporated into the body portion, a containing section housed in the flag dispenser, and an opening in the containing section through which tape flags can be issued.

A writing utensil having a distal end and a proximal end and extending generally along a longitudinal axis includes a casing having a slot extending generally along the longitudinal axis adjacent the proximal end, an eraser disposed on the proximal end of the casing, a valve coupled to the casing adjacent the distal end and including a valve door, a writing tip movable between a stored position in which the tip is stored within the valve and a writing position in which the tip extends out of the valve, and an actuator disposed in and slidable in the slot and operatively coupled to the writing tip such that movement of the actuator in the slot moves the writing tip between the stored position and the writing position.

A transfer tape dispenser includes a case, a supply spool, a return spool, and a substantially rigid applicator tip having an application edge. The applicator tip is disposed in a path of a transfer tape that originates from the supply spool and terminates at the return spool. When pressing the application edge on a surface, an application layer of the transfer tape adheres to the surface. The transfer tape dispenser includes a cushion that cushions the pressing of the application edge on the surface. The transfer tape dispenser further includes a slip clutch mechanism for providing slipping of the supply spool relative to the rotation of the return spool, when necessary, to maintain a desired tension in the correction transfer tape.

A correction tape dispenser includes a housing with a pair of receiving holes. A carrier ribbon has a first end wound about a supply spool and a second end wound about a take-up spool. An applicator tip is at least partially disposed within the housing and includes a platform with a front edge, a rear edge, a first side edge, a second side edge, a top surface and a bottom surface. The carrier ribbon is disposed on the top surface, around the front edge, and on the bottom surface. The platform includes a slot that defines first and second legs. A first post extends laterally out from the first side edge, and a second post extends laterally out from the second side edge, the first post and the second post being rotatably disposed within the receiving holes of the housing.
