A color correction mask programmatically generated in software on an HMD device is applied to a gaze region on a display field of view (FOV) on a head-mounted display (HMD) device to optimize system resources while rendering a display. Eye monitoring sensors are utilized to track movement of a user's eyes while the user operates the HMD device to determine a gaze position of the user's eyes on the display FOV. Using the determined gaze position, a dynamic foveal gaze region is sized around the gaze position so that the foveal portion of the display FOV is color-corrected, that is, color non-uniformities are reduced or eliminated. In other implementations, a gaze-based weighting mode is implemented in which measurements of the user's full eye or eye orbit are utilized to color correct a larger surface area of the display FOV relative to the foveal color correction mode.

Foveated color correction to improve color uniformity of head-mounted displays

The display alignment tracker optically multiplexes a portion of a first signal and a portion of the second signal into a combined optical signal and measures a differential between the first signal and the second signal.

Display active alignment systems utilizing test patterns for calibrating signals in waveguide displays

Techniques and apparatuses for dynamic realignment of stereoscopic digital content is described herein. A computing device causes display of stereoscopic digital content, which includes one or more left images rendered for a left eye of a viewer and one or more right images rendered for a right eye of the viewer. An alignment pattern is generated within the stereoscopic digital content such that the alignment pattern is within the field of view of the viewer. The alignment pattern is designed to exploit the human vision system in order to avoid detection of the alignment pattern by the viewer. One or more cameras are controlled to detect the alignment pattern in the digital content. Then, the digital content is realigned by adjusting at least one of the left or right images of the digital content based on the detected alignment patterns.

Dynamic realignment of stereoscopic digital consent

Examples are disclosed herein that are related to depth imaging of a 360-degree field of view. One example provides a depth imaging system comprising an image sensor, a reflector subsystem comprising one or more reflectors arranged to reflect a radial field of view of a surrounding environment toward the image sensor, a projector configured to project light onto the reflector subsystem for reflection into the surrounding environment, and a computing device comprising a logic subsystem and a storage subsystem comprising instructions executable by the logic subsystem to receive image data from the image sensor, and output a depth image based upon the image data.

A method for suppressing banding and rolling flicker in video acquired by a video camera. The method comprises acquiring a plurality of video frames and assessing an amount of rolling flicker in the plurality of video frames. The method further comprises configuring the video camera to quiet banding and rolling flicker responsive to periodic illumination at a first frequency if the amount of rolling flicker is above a threshold, and, configuring the video camera to quiet banding and rolling flicker responsive to periodic illumination at a second frequency if the amount of rolling flicker is below the threshold.

Video artifact suppression via rolling flicker detection

One disclosed embodiment includes detecting flicker in a photographic setting. A plurality of samples are obtained from a light detector circuit of a camera, each of which has a value that is dependent upon intensity of light incident upon the camera. The method further includes processing the samples to identify whether the incident light is varying in intensity at one or more pre-selected frequencies. The processing may include multiplying the samples with one or more periodic signals to generate scalar product outputs, and analyzing the scalar product outputs to ascertain the presence of periodic flicker.
