A flexible marker system for use with a computer-assisted surgical (CAS) tracking system is disclosed. The system includes a rigid frame or instrument having a plurality of coupling locations each configured to position a navigation marker in a predetermined position and a flexible array configured to be coupled with the rigid frame or instrument. The flexible array can include an elastically deformable body and a plurality of navigation markers, where the flexible array is configured to be coupled to the rigid frame or instrument by stretching the elastically deformable body over the rigid frame or instrument such that each of the plurality of navigation markers is positioned at one of the plurality of coupling locations of the rigid frame or instrument.

Flexible navigation marker systems and methods of use

A trial neck () and a method for trialling a neck of an orthopedic implant in a hip replacement procedure. The method includes inserting a broach () into a medullary canal of a femur and connecting a distal end of a trial neck to a proximal end () of the broach. The trial neck includes a proximal end connectable to a trial head. The trial neck includes a body portion extending along a neck axis () of the trial neck between the distal end and the proximal end. The proximal end includes a male connector for connection to a corresponding female connector of a trial head. The male connector includes a plurality of connection members (A,B) extending parallel to the neck axis. The connection members are separated by one or more elongate slots () including at least one kink () forming an interlock between the connection members separated by that slot. The connection members are resiliently deflectable.

Sterile drape interface

A device and method for inserting a liner into an acetabular cup. The device includes a first portion configured to engage the liner and a rim of the acetabular cup to align a pole of the liner and a pole of the cup along an axis of the device prior to insertion of the liner into the cup. The device also includes a second portion for pushing the liner into the cup. The second portion includes a guide arrangement for engaging a rim of the liner. The second portion is coupled to the first portion for movement of the second portion with respect to the first portion along said axis.

Device and method for inserting a liner into an acetabular cup

An instrument () for positioning a hollow cup component () of an orthopedic joint prosthesis and assembly thereof are described. The instrument includes a support member () having a plurality of jaw members () unitarily formed around its periphery. Each of the jaw members has a cup engaging limb () extending in a first direction to be received in a recess on an external side wall of the cup component. Each jaw member is pivotable between an engaged position in which the cup engaging limbs are displaced inwardly and a disengaged position in which the cup engaging limbs are displaced outwardly allowing the cup component to be removed from between the jaw members. An actuator () is operable to adopt an engaged configuration in which the actuator acts on all the jaw members to urge them into the engaged position or a disengaged configuration in which the actuator does not act on any of the jaw members to urge them into the engaged position and all the jaw members can adopt the disengaged position.

Instrument for positioning a cup component of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis

A cutting block comprises a body having a top surface for guiding a saw blade, and a top plate connected to the body. The top plate can move between a first position in which the top plate is spaced apart from the body and a second position in which the top surface of the top plate is an extension of the top surface of the body. The top plate has first and second resiliently deformable arms extending from it, spaced apart along the top plate, and the body has first and second recesses formed in it extending substantially perpendicularly to the top surface of the body. The first and second arms on the top plate are inserted in the recesses so that the arms and the recesses define the path for movement of the top plate relative to the body between the first and second position.

Surgical instrument

A surgical cutting guide is described which can guide a cutting implement to cut in a pair of planes at a defined relative orientation. The cutting guide comprises a first plate defining a first cutting plane, a second plate defining a second cutting plane at an angle to the first cutting plane; and a base member to which both the first plate and the second plate are attached. The first and second cutting planes intersect each other at a line of intersection and both the first plate and the second plate extend beyond the line of intersection.

Surgical cutting guide

An instrument for use in a joint replacement procedure includes a trial head that corresponds to the head of an orthopaedic joint component having an upper surface defined by a curved surface and a bore formed in a lower surface and a trial connector for connecting the trial head to a stem part of the orthopaedic joint component which is intended for location in the intramedullary cavity of a bone. The trial connector can be fitted into the bore in the trial head at a variable angular orientation.
