It has been discovered that the cavity of data storage devices may be temporarily sealed to inhibit loss of gasses from the cavity by use of a sealing solution comprising a sealing component that is in contact with the gasket of the device, so that the gasket and sealing solution, together with the structural cover and base deck of the device, temporarily seals the cavity. The sealing solution comprises a sealing component having molecular weight of from about 1000 to about 30,000 Daltons.

An environmental control assembly includes a housing including a base layer, a diffusor layer, and an interior space at least partially formed by the base layer and the diffusor layer. The environmental control assembly further includes a desiccant positioned within the interior space and an inlet filter that is formed from a cutout in the base layer that is covered by the diffusor layer.

An integrated suspension assembly including interconnect is used to provide an electrical and mechanical connection between an actuation system and a slider. The suspension assembly includes a multi-layer laminate substrate having a base layer, an insulator layer and a conductor layer. The laminate substrate further includes an attachment region for attaching the suspension assembly to an actuator arm, a load beam region, a flexure region for supporting the slider, and an interconnect path. The interconnect path extends along the flexure region, the load beam region and the attachment region wherein the path terminates at the attachment region at a connection point to provide an electro-mechanical attachment to the actuator arm.

A suspension for supporting a transducer in a data storage system includes a longitudinal axis, a proximal mounting section, and first and second opposing side edges. The suspension includes a rigid load beam section that extends longitudinally along the longitudinal axis. A flexible section is located between the proximal mounting section and the rigid load beam section. The flexible section has a preload bend transverse the longitudinal axis and a peak strain region located between the preload bend and the rigid load beam section. A damper covers a portion of the peak strain region.
