A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaning appliance, the cleaner head including a main body supporting an agitator. The agitator includes a rotatable cylindrical body that bears an elongate agitator formation for engaging a floor surface as the cylindrical body rotates. The elongate agitator formation includes a first agitator row extending around the cylindrical body from a respective first edge L of the cylindrical body towards its centre C in a first helical direction and a second agitator row extending around the cylindrical body from a respective second edge R of the cylindrical body towards its centre C in a second helical direction that is counter to the first helical direction, wherein the first agitator row includes agitators of a first material and wherein the second agitator row includes agitators of a second material that is different to the first material.

Cleaner head for a vacuum cleaning appliance

A cyclonic vacuum cleaner including a suction inlet fluidly connected in series to a vac-motor for drawing a dirty airflow in through the suction inlet. The suction inlet is fluidly connected downstream to both a first cyclonic separator and to a flow device via a flow junction, the flow junction configured for dividing the dirty airflow into two separate airflows, a first airflow passing through the first cyclonic separator and a second airflow passing through the flow device, thus stepping down the dirty airflow through the first separator compared to the dirty airflow through the suction inlet. The flow device is either a second cyclonic separator, an air filter or an air turbine. A screening member is upstream of the flow device for screening out dirt particles from the second airflow so that the dirt particles are retained in the first airflow, thus 'concentrating' dust loading in the first airflow.

Domestic cyclonic vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner having a vac motor and a separating assembly for separating out dust particles entrained in an airflow drawn through the separator by the vac motor. The separating assembly is a multi-stage separating assembly comprising a primary separation stage and a secondary, non-cyclonic separation stage which is downstream of the primary separation stage, the non-cyclonic separation stage comprising a flow bend for changing the direction of the airflow thereby to separate out dust particles entrained in the airflow. A primary dust collector is provided for collecting dust particles separated out by the first separation stage, and a secondary dust collector is provided for collecting the dust particles separated out by the flow bend, wherein the primary dust collector at least partly surrounds the secondary dust collector.

Separating apparatus in a vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner having a vac-motor and a dust separator for separating out dust particles entrained in an airflow drawn through the separator by the vac-motor. The separator is a multi-stage separator incorporating a cyclonic primary separation stage, a non-cyclonic secondary separation stage which is downstream of the primary separation stage and a cyclonic tertiary stage which is downstream of the secondary stage. In accordance with the invention, the secondary stage includes a flow bend for changing the direction of the airflow thereby to separate out dust particles entrained in the airflow. The vacuum cleaner also includes a primary dust collector for collecting dust particles separated out by the primary separation stage, a secondary dust collector for collecting the dust particles separated out by the flow bend and a tertiary dust collector for collecting dust separated out by the tertiary separation stage.

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance includes a housing, a suction opening through which dirt-bearing air enters the cleaner head, and a plurality of floor engaging support members connected to the housing. Each support member includes a curved lower surface and a rolling element located within a recessed portion of the lower surface of the support member. The outer surface of the rolling element is substantially coincident with a locus, or virtual surface, described by the lower surface of the support member.

Cleaner head

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance includes a housing, a moveable agitator located within the housing, and a detachable unit extending about the agitator. The detachable unit includes a sole plate having a suction opening through which dirt-bearing air enters the cleaner head, a chassis detachably connected to the housing, and a flexible annular seal for allowing relative movement between the housing and the sole plate. One end of the flexible annular seal is connected to the chassis and the other end of the flexible annular seal is connected to the sole plate.

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance including a housing having an air outlet, a rotary brush bar assembly located within a chamber of the housing, the chamber having an air outlet which is in fluid communication with the air outlet of the housing, and a drive mechanism for driving the brush bar assembly, the drive mechanism extending into the chamber between first and second side walls of the chamber, wherein the brush bar assembly comprises a first brush bar section located within a first section of the chamber between the drive mechanism and the first side wall of the chamber, and a second brush bar section located within a second section of the chamber between the drive mechanism and the second side wall of the chamber, and wherein the air outlet of the chamber extends between and into both sections of the chamber.

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance includes a housing, a sole plate for engaging with the floor surface, the sole plate comprising a suction opening through which dirt-bearing air enters the cleaner head, and a flexible annular seal located between the sole plate and the housing to allow the housing to move relative to the sole plate to reduce the force exerted on the sole plate by the housing, thereby allowing the sole plate to ride over the floor surface during a cleaning operation. The cleaner head includes at least one floor engaging support member connected to the housing for restricting the movement of the housing towards the sole plate to prevent the housing from pushing the sole plate against the floor surface.
