An airbag module including an inflator and an inflatable airbag is provided. The inflatable airbag may include a first portion comprising at least one fold configured to form at least one vertical pleat, a second portion comprising at least one fold configured to form at least one horizontal pleat and a third portion configured to form a roll.

An inflatable device includes a protective patch attached to an interior surface of the device to cover a portion of the surface, wherein the patch is not positioned over an opening in the device.

Protective cushion

An airbag module including an inflatable airbag cushion having a first panel and a second panel interconnected by a seam, an inflator for inflating the airbag cushion, and a support having a first end and a second end. The first end is coupled to the first panel at a first joint without the use of stitching and the second end is coupled to the second panel at a second joint without the use of stitching. The first and second joints are provided between the seam and an inflatable chamber formed by the first and second panels.

Airbag module with light weight airbag cushion

A side curtain air bag module for a motor vehicle includes an inflatable cushion, an inflator, and a tether. The inflatable cushion includes an inlet and an inflatable portion, the inflatable portion including an inboard layer and an outboard layer. The inflator is in fluidic communication with the inlet and is configured to inflate the inflatable cushion. The tether includes a first end coupled to the inflatable cushion at a first coupling location on an inboard side of the inflatable cushion. During inflation, the tether is configured to be in tension prior to an upper portion of the inboard layer being in tension, the upper portion of the inboard layer extending generally upward from the first coupling location.

Side-impact airbag module

A side curtain air bag module includes an inflatable cushion and an inflator. The inflatable cushion includes a first panel coupled to a second panel. The inflator is configured to inflate the inflatable cushion. The first panel and the second panel are joined generally continuously at a peripheral edge to form a first inflatable chamber. The first panel and the second panel are joined at a central location to form a second inflatable chamber that is in fluidic communication with the first inflatable chamber. In a stored configuration, the first inflatable chamber is rolled in an outboard direction, and the second inflatable chamber is rolled in an inboard direction generally around the first inflatable chamber.

An airbag module for use in a vehicle. The airbag module an airbag cushion configured to deploy externally to the vehicle and an inflator configured to inflate the at least three inflatable chambers of the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion is configured to span between first and second ends and having at least three inflatable chambers. The airbag cushion is configured to be anchored at both ends and deploys into a position wherein at least one inflatable chamber is entirely separated from the vehicle by a gap formed by the deployed airbag cushion projecting away from the vehicle, and wherein the deployed airbag is configured to hinge between the first and second end so that the gap is bounded by the at least three inflatable chambers.

External airbag

A curtain airbag assembly comprises an inflatable curtain airbag configured to prevent egress of an occupant out of a window during a collision or rollover event. When the curtain airbag is inflated, a bottom edge of the curtain airbag extends below a window sill in a vehicle. A distance the inflated curtain airbag extends below the window sill is greater than a radius of curvature of the inflated curtain airbag.
