A system for generating steam for a turbine of an electric generator includes a superheater that receives steam from a boiler and that superheats the steam. All or a portion of the superheated steam from the superheater is then passed through a heat exchanger to transfer some of the heat energy in the superheated steam to a flow of water. This reduces a temperature of the superheated steam to a temperature that is suitable for the turbine. The water heated in the heat exchanger can be condensed water that has already passed through the turbine, and the water heated in the heat exchanger can be routed to the boiler, where it is re-cycled back into steam.

A system for digitization of work processes in a power plant having a gas turbine including at least one processor system having a controller. The processor receives power plant data and the controller preferably controls the gas turbine. At least one interface device is communicatively coupled to the processor system for communicating the data received from the processor system to at least one of a mobile computing system and a computer system carried by a mobile user. The controller is capable of receiving instructions from the mobile user to control the gas turbine. The system further includes a local area network (LAN) in communication with the at least one interface device. At least one antenna assembly having a transceiver system for transmitting and receiving signals from the at least one interface device is provided. A network server system is communicatively coupled to the at least one antenna assembly via a wireless communication network, the server computer including a database for storing application data accessible by the mobile user.

A system for performing gas turbine system adjustments includes a server installed on a computer, the server coupled to a gas turbine engine control system and configured to transmit data indicative of an operating state of a gas turbine engine, and a client application including a database, the client application configured to receive the gas turbine operating state data transmitted by the server, and enable a user to analyze the gas turbine operating data to determine a desired gas turbine operating state, wherein the desired operating state is communicated to the gas turbine engine control system to facilitate adjusting at least one gas turbine combustion control system operating parameter based on the desired gas turbine operating state.

Apparatus and method for performing gas turbine adjustment

The compressor cleaning system includes a track mounted about the inlet of the compressor. A circumferential position assembly mounts an insertion drive assembly which is driven about the track into selected circumferential positions. The insertion drive assembly carries a manipulator arm assembly mounting at its distal end a cleaning head. By using pairs of control cables, the proximal yaw, pitch and distal yaw sections of the manipulator arm can be moved to weave the cleaning head past the multiple stages of blading to locate the cleaning head adjacent a selected blade. By repeated extension and retraction of the cleaning head relative to the compressor inlet and about the compressor blades, each blade can be cleaned without disassembly of the compressor casing or removal of the rotor.

Method for robotically cleaning compressor blading of a turbine

A method and apparatus for cleaning a generator or turbine component using a laser ablation technique. The method includes programming a controller coupled to a laser source for controlling the laser source to perform laser ablation. A laser beam is directed at a generator or turbine component surface for vaporizing surface contaminants and coatings deposited on the generator or turbine component surface without changing material properties of said generator or turbine component. A computer system having a processor and a database is communicatively coupled to the controller. The database is loaded with turbine or generator component data and corresponding laser power related data for ablating surface contaminants and coatings from respective components. The apparatus also includes a detector disposed adjacent to the turbine or generator component to monitor ablation process and provide feedback data to the computer system, and a comparator for comparing the feedback data with predetermined data to determine progress of ablation. The laser source is controlled to produce a laser beam depending on the comparison step.

Method and apparatus for cleaning generator and turbine components

A portable Laser Plasma Spectroscopy (LPS) system and process is provided for performing in situ, near-real time, remote elemental analysis and identification of deposits or other foreign material found on surfaces of machine parts, such as turbine compressor blades or the like, wherein identification of the elemental constituents of a particular deposit is obtained without incurring significant ablative damage to the machine part substrate material underlying the deposit.

A system and method for establishing communications in a power plant comprises a power generation system having an interface for establishing wireless communication, at least one power plant auxiliary system having an interface for enabling wireless communication, and a wireless communications link, having at least two redundant wireless communications channels, established between the power generation system and the power plant auxiliary system. The two redundant wireless communications channels may be two redundant wireless radio frequency channels. The communications link may be established utilizing a network communications controller which wirelessly communicates with the power generation system and the power plant auxiliary system. One or more of the power plant auxiliary systems may communicate with the network communications controller through a repeater.

The method includes repairing the stator bar end fittings used for the electrical and hydraulic connections at the stator bar ends of a generator with suitable integrity to be as good as new or better than an in-kind replacement with new components for the stator bar. The method addresses the need to repair leaks in liquid cooled generator end windings and the respective end fittings. In particular, the method repairs leaks that develop between the joints of interior adjacent strands and between the outermost strands and the end fitting. The method employs the replacement of the original end fitting with another end fitting similar in geometry. A majority of the original end fitting along with the original window (if any) is preserved and utilized as a ring to surround and compress the strand bundle, with the original braze intact, thus preserving the original geometry of the strand bundle. After repairing the strands, the machined ring is inserted into the replacement end fitting and brazed with an alloy with a lower temperature melting point than the original alloy in order to keep intact the prior brazing. The replacement end fitting of the repaired stator bar end may now be connected to the generator winding, insulated and returned to service in the same manner as that of a new stator bar.
