A cable management system includes multiple cables, each having a unique identifier associated therewith and each including first and second barcodes including the unique identifier, the first barcode located proximate a first end of the cable, the second barcode located proximate a second end of the cable. The system also includes a barcode scanner to scan barcodes of the cables, the barcode scanner includes a clip to receive one of the cables. The system also includes a mobile computing device having a processor, data storage medium, communication unit, and user interface including a display. The mobile computing device is configured to receive via the user interface first end location information for a first cable, receive from the barcode scanner the first barcode of the first cable, and save and display the first end location information in association with the unique identifier of the first cable included in the first barcode.

Cable management system and method

A cable management system includes a cable bundling system for tracking a plurality of cables included in a cable bundle. The cable bundling system includes a pair of cable bundlers, including a first cable bundler for installing a first end of a cable, and a second cable bundler for installing a second end of the cable.

Systems and methods for decreasing alien crosstalk use enhanced patch cords for introducing additional attenuation. The enhanced patch cords are preferably shielded to reduce alien crosstalk down their lengths and also attenuate signals passing therethrough to a greater extent than standard communication patch cords. The interaction of two enhanced patch cords results in two suppression steps for alien crosstalk and only one suppression step for intended signal passing through a communication cable.

A fiber optic stub fiber connector for reversibly and nondestructively terminating an inserted field fiber having a buffer over at least a portion thereof. The connector includes a housing and a ferrule including a stub fiber disposed within and extending from a bore through the ferrule. The ferrule is generally at least partially disposed within and supported by the housing. The connector further includes a reversible actuator for reversibly and nondestructively terminating the inserted field fiber to the stub fiber. The reversible actuator includes a buffer clamp for engaging with the buffer to simultaneously provide reversible and nondestructive strain relief to the terminated field fiber.

An access control system dissipates voltage transients while allowing access control equipment to operate normally. The access control system utilizes an isolation patch panel which is provided with circuitry to prevent voltage transients from damaging access control equipment, while also enabling the access control equipment to be wired with standard Ethernet cabling.

A building control system is provided that receives information from devices of different subsystems. A trigger causes a zone controller to store the information in a database. The stored data is used to generate customized reports based on sequences or sets of related events. The information from multiple subsystems is consolidated, analyzed, and patterns of behavior are determined. The trigger also causes execution of control actions throughout the building spanning the multiple subsystems, devices, and areas based on the information. An access control subsystem and a non-access control subsystem of the building control system are linked using a common network such that a change in the state of an access control device can affect the state of a non-access control device and a change in the state of a non-access control device can affect the state of an access control device.
