A vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a prime mover coupled to the chassis and positioned at least one of beneath or behind the cab, and an accessory drive. The accessory drive includes an accessory and connecting shaft. The accessory is positioned forward of a front of the cab such that the accessory is spaced from the prime mover. The connecting shaft extends from the prime mover, past the front of the cab, and to the accessory. The connecting shaft is positioned to facilitate driving the accessory with the prime mover.

Vehicle cooling systems and methods

A vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, an engine coupled to the chassis and positioned at least one of beneath or behind the cab, a cooling system coupled to the chassis, and a connecting shaft. The cooling system includes a fan positioned forward of a front of the cab such that the fan is spaced from the engine. The connecting shaft extends from the engine, past the front of the cab, and to the fan. The connecting shaft is positioned to facilitate driving the fan with the engine.

A vehicle includes a chassis, a front cabin coupled to the chassis, an engine coupled to the chassis and positioned at least one of beneath and behind the front cabin, and a cooling pack coupled to the chassis and positioned forward of the front cabin defining an airgap between the cooling pack and the engine. The cooling pack includes a radiator positioned at a front end of the chassis, a fan system including a fan positioned behind and proximate the radiator, and a conduit system fluidly coupling the radiator to the engine to facilitate providing a coolant between the radiator and the engine. The fan is configured to draw air through the radiator to cool the coolant within the radiator.

An air intake heater system includes an air heater adapted to be positioned in communication with an intake passageway of an engine and a controller. The controller is operable to repeatedly supply current and discontinue the supply of current to provide a desired energy output of the air heater.

An air intake heater for use in a motor vehicle has an engine with an engine block and an intake manifold defining an air passageway. The air intake heater includes a gasket having a conductor plate disposed between two non-conducting sealant layers, the conductor plate has at least one inner terminal adapted for positioning inside the air passageway and at least one outer terminal adapted for positioning outside the air passageway. A heating element is coupled to the gasket and adapted to be disposed within the air passageway, wherein the inner terminal is electrically coupled to the heating element and the outer terminal is electrically coupled to a power source.

Grounding/sealing gasket

A heater for heating air in an intake passage of an internal combustion engine. The heater includes a heating element coupled to a first holder and a second holder. The heating element has a preselected resistance corresponding to plurality apertures formed therethrough. A second embodiment includes a heating element positioned within a housing. The heating element includes a plurality of selectively removable slugs. After removal of one or more of the slugs, the electrical resistance of the heating element increases.

A heater for the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine that includes a first heating element having a first end and a second end, a second heating element having a first end and a second end, and a first bolt assembly that mechanically couples yet electrically isolates the first end of the first heating element from the first end of the second heating element. In the heater, the first and second heating elements are electrically connected in series and the first end of said first heating element is electrically connected to the first bolt assembly. The first bolt assembly also electrically connects the first end of the second heating element to ground.

A heater for an internal combustion engine includes a first holder, a second holder and a heating element positioned between the first and second holders. The heater further includes a frame defining a channel. The frame includes a plurality of prongs extending inwardly toward the channel that retain the holders in a first direction relative to the frame.
