Methods for producing a geothermal well

A technique facilitates nonintrusive monitoring of a fluid constituent within an overall fluid flow. The system and methodology may be used downhole to monitor, e.g., the volume fraction of water in produced well fluid. The system comprises a sensor system combined with a component, e.g. a well component, having a flow passage for receiving a fluid flow. At least a portion of the fluid flow moves through the sensor system which may comprise a main electrode, a guard electrode, and an insulator to isolate the main electrode and the guard electrode. The main electrode and the guard electrode are oriented circumferentially around the fluid flow to obtain capacitance data on the fluid flowing through the sensor system. The capacitance data may be processed to determine the fraction of a specific constituent within the fluid flow, e.g. to determine the volume fraction of water in a well fluid flow.

Apparatus and methods for decreasing pressure of drilling fluid within a region between an impeller and a housing of a power generation module (PGM). The apparatus comprises a shaft extending from and rotatable relative to the housing; The impeller is coupled with the shaft external to the housing and includes a group of blades that rotate the impeller as the drilling fluid flows past the PGM. The impeller further includes another group of blades that decrease the pressure of the drilling fluid within the region between the impeller and the housing when the impeller is rotating.

Seal flow and pressure control

A multiphase flowmeter for detection of fluid flow by monitoring of vortex frequency or perturbation time of flight. The flowmeter includes a bluff body to facilitate formation of vortices during a consistent phase of a flowing fluid. Thus, monitoring frequency of the vortices may be employed to ascertain flowrate. Further, the bluff body may also facilitate formation of perturbations during transitioning phase of the fluid and include perturbation sensors at multiple known locations along the flow-path. Thus, analysis of perturbation detection times at the different locations may be used to ascertain flowrate even in the absence of vortices.

Systems and methods for reducing torque on a rotating downhole logging tool are provided. In one embodiment, a downhole logging tool is provided. The downhole logging tool may include a support element, which may include a hollow cavity. The support element may be configured to rotate about an axis when the support element is inserted in a well, and the hollow cavity may be configured to permit fluid flow through the support element when the support element is in the well. Furthermore, the downhole logging tool may include a first fairing portion, which may include a first sensor to obtain measurements in the well. Additionally, the first fairing portion may be configured to form a revolution surface associated with a portion of the support element.

A technique enables stimulation of a subterranean formation. A reactive fluid is delivered downhole into a wellbore. The reactive fluid is under sufficient pressure downhole to create a jet of the reactive fluid that is directed at a specific treatment section. The jet is maintained until a localized region of enhanced permeability is created. One or more jets can be created or moved to treat a plurality of low permeability zones.

One system includes a section of tubular having a main flow passage and a fluid diversion port, the section of tubular adapted to be either moving or stationary during a fluid diversion operation, at least two sensors in the section of tubular, at least one sensor located upstream of the fluid diversion port and at least one sensor located downstream of the fluid diversion port, each sensor adapted to measure a parameter of a fluid diverted into a wellbore through the fluid diversion port; and means for using the measured parameters in realtime to monitor, control, or both monitor and control diversion of the fluid. A method of conditioning a fluid flow from a first area to a second area downstream from the first area. The flow coming from the first area is directed in a longitudinal direction. The cross-section of flow is increased, and the flow is split by means of an impact surface substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal flow direction. The split is caused to flow symmetrically relative to the longitudinal flow direction over a predetermined distance from the splitting to the second area without reducing the rate. The split flow is accelerated over at least a portion of said predetermined distance. The flow is mixed to achieve a conditioned fluid flow in the second area.
