A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body assembly, and an automated reach arm. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The automated reach arm includes a refuse container engagement mechanism, at least one electrically driven actuation mechanism, a first slew motor, and a second slew motor. The refuse container engagement mechanism is configured to selectively engage a refuse container. The at least one electrically driven actuation mechanism is configured to selectively actuate the automated reach arm between an extended position, a retracted position, and a refuse-dumping position. The first slew motor is configured to selectively swing the automated reach arm with respect to the body assembly about a first axis. The second slew motor is configured to selectively swing the refuse container engagement mechanism with respect to a second axis that is parallel to the first axis.

Electric side loader arms for electric refuse vehicle

A tracked vehicle includes a drive system and a controller. The drive system is configured to drive a track of the tracked vehicle. The drive system includes an electric motor, a gearbox, and a first positional sensor. The gearbox includes a first planetary gearset, a second planetary gearset, a first clutch, and a second clutch. The first positional sensor is configured to measure translation of a piston of the first clutch and the second positional sensor is configured to measure translation of a piston of the second clutch. The controller is configured to use the measured translation of the piston of the first clutch and the measured translation of the piston of the second clutch to operate the electric motor and the gearbox.

The first gear is configured to rotate about an axis radially offset from a center thereof.

A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body assembly, and a tailgate. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The tailgate comprises a refuse receiving portion, a thresher assembly, and an electrically driven actuation mechanism. The refuse receiving portion is configured to receive refuse material. The thresher assembly includes a compaction thresher including a plurality of tines and a plurality of tine springs configured to bias the plurality of tines in a direction of compaction. The plurality of tine springs are each disposed around a corresponding tine of the plurality of tines. The electrically driven actuation mechanism is configured to selectively actuate the thresher assembly.

An electrified vehicle includes a front axle, a rear axle, an engine, a pump, a battery, a first electric motor electrically coupled to the battery, a second electric motor electrically coupled to the battery and configured to drive at least one of the front axle or the rear axle, a first clutch positioned between the engine and the first electric motor, and a second clutch positioned between the first electric motor and the pump. With the first clutch engaged and the second clutch disengaged, the engine is configured to drive the first electric motor to generate electricity to charge the battery. With the first clutch disengaged and the second clutch engaged, the first electric motor is configured to drive the pump. With the first clutch engaged and the second clutch engaged, the engine is configured to drive the pump.

A tipper assembly includes a base configured to couple to a tailgate of the refuse vehicle and an actuator assembly comprising an actuator and a transmission device. The actuator may be coupled to the transmission device and may be configured to provide an input to the transmission device. The transmission device may be configured to reduce a speed of the input. The tipper assembly further includes an arm extending from and pivotally coupled to at least one of the actuator assembly or the base and an implement coupled to the arm. The implement may be configured to engage with a refuse container and facilitate the dumping of contents within the refuse container into an opening in the tailgate.

Cycloidal drive transmission

A fully-electric lift assembly for a refuse vehicle includes a track, a carrier, and a push chain. The track includes multiple channels that extend along an entire length of a path of the track. The carrier is configured to translate along the path of the track. The carrier includes multiple slidable members, each slidable member configured to engage the track at a corresponding one of the channels. The push chain is configured to couple with the carrier at a first end and be driven by an electric motor. The push chain is configured to exert a pushing force on the carrier to drive the carrier to ascend along the track.

Refuse vehicle with electric lift

Another implementation of the present disclosure is a refuse vehicle. The refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body coupled with the chassis, a tailgate, an electric lock, and a fully electric tailgate actuator assembly. The body assembly defines a refuse compartment. The tailgate is coupled with a rear of the body and is transitionable between a first position to limit access to the refuse compartment and a second position to allow access to the refuse compartment. The electric lock is operable between an engaged state and a disengaged state to limit movement of the tailgate out of the first position when the electric lock is in the engaged state. The fully electric tailgate actuator assembly is configured to transition the tailgate between the first position and the second position.

A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, tractive elements, a lift apparatus, and a reach assembly. The tractive elements couple with the chassis and support the refuse vehicle. The lift apparatus includes a track and a grabber assembly. The track includes a straight portion and a curved portion. The grabber assembly releasably grasps a refuse container and ascends or descends the track to lift and empty refuse into a body of the refuse vehicle. The reach assembly includes an outer member, a first extendable member, and a second extendable member. The first extendable member is received within an inner volume of the outer member and translates relative to the outer member. The second extendable member is received within an inner volume of the first extendable member and translates relative to the first extendable member. The lift apparatus is fixedly coupled at an outer end of the second extendable member.

A drive system for a vehicle includes a first electromagnetic device directly coupled to a first planetary gear set and a second electromagnetic device directly coupled to a second planetary gear set. In a first mode of operation, a clutch is engaged to couple the second planetary gear set to the first planetary gear set and a brake is disengaged to allow rotation of the second planetary gear set and in a second mode of operation, the brake is engaged to limit rotation of the second planetary gear set and the clutch is disengaged.

The transmission is configured to provide a shake function in response to the dump position being reached to assist in the dumping of the contents within the container.

The electric motor is powered by the power source and configured to selectively move the refuse interaction element between the receiving position and the force-exerting position.

The side-loading lift assembly comprises a refuse container engagement mechanism and at least one electrically-driven actuation mechanism. The refuse container engagement mechanism is configured to selectively engage a refuse container. The at least one electrically-driven actuation mechanism is powered by the battery system and is configured to selectively actuate the side-loading lift assembly between an extended position, a retracted position, and a refuse-dumping position.

The carriage is configured to movably couple with the track. The first grabber arm and the second grabber arm are pivotally coupled with the carriage at opposite ends of the carriage. The electric motor is configured to drive the first grabber arm and the second grabber arm to rotate relative to the carriage.
