A sealing element is flanked by wedge-shaped extrusion ring assemblies. The extrusion rings are continuous for 360 degrees and are slotted from the outside dimension and alternatively from the inside dimension to allow the diameter to increase to the surround tubular or open hole. The extrusion rings climb a ramp on an adjacent pedestal ring on the way out to the borehole wall. Depending on the dimension of the gap to be spanned the extrusion ring slides a variable distance up the pedestal ring ramp. An optional anchor ring is initially forced up an opposite ramp of the pedestal ring. If the sealing gap is short the anchor ring can be eliminated. For larger gaps the anchor ring moves out far enough toward the borehole wall to contact the extrusion ring located on an opposing ramp of the pedestal ring so that reaction forces are directed to keep the anchor ring wedged in position for support of the extrusion ring assembly.

The apparatus includes a locating device having a locating collet configured to engage with a locating profile on a housing and disengage from the locating profile when a first pull load is applied to the locating collet, a delay device that prevents application of the first pull load on the locating collet when it is engaged with the locating profile until the delay device has been activated, and a locking device configured to prevent activation of the delay device until a second pull load less than the first is applied on the locking device for a selected period of time.

Apparatus and methods for locating a particular location in a wellbore for performing a wellbore operation

An apparatus for use in a wellbore includes an outer assembly and inner assembly. The outer assembly includes a set down profile, a first flow device for supplying a fluid to a zone in the wellbore and a second flow device for providing a flow path from the formation to inside of the outer assembly. The inner assembly includes a frac port for supplying a fluid from the inner assembly to the first flow device, a valve below the frac port that remains closed when a fluid at a selected flow rate flows downward from above the valve, and a bypass device uphole of the valve. The bypass device opens when the inner assembly is set down in the set down profile and provides a flow path from below the frac port to an annulus between the inner assembly and the outer assembly above the frac port.
