Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for providing shared content collections. The program and method provide for receiving, from a first device of a first user, an indication of first user input to share a content collection between the first user and a second user selected by the first user, the content collection comprising at least one media content item, the second user corresponding to a contact of the first user; storing the content collection in association with the first user and the second user; receiving an indication of second user input to share the content collection with a third user selected by the second user, the third user corresponding to a contact of the second user; and associating the content collection with the third user.

Providing shared content collections within a messaging system

An audio recommendation system adds a 'recents' tab in a memory accessible to a messaging system including any audio tracks (songs or sounds) encountered by applications in order to allow quick access to any recently played songs or sounds provided in a message to/from another user or encountered during activities of the user. The displayed “recents” tab enables the user to revisit songs or sounds that the user may wish to use later in another message or to include in the user's music playlist. The “recents” tab also enables the user to browse an audio history in received messages without needing to explicitly save the music or sounds upon receipt. The system determines the source of the encountered sound or song and stores the source of the sound or song in a playlist associated with the recents tab with identifying information for the sound or song.

Systems and methods are presented that provide for receiving, at a media overlay publication system from a first client device, content to generate a media overlay, and generating the media overlay using the content received from the client device. The generated media overlay is stored in a database associated with the media overlay publication system and associated with a first characteristic of the content received from the first client device. The media overlay is provided to a second client device when a second characteristic of context data associated with the second client device correlates to the first characteristic for the media overlay, causing a display of the media overlay on a user interface of the second client device.

The systems and methods include accessing, by a user device, a video discovery graphical user interface that includes a plurality of videos; receiving a user input that gradually reduces volume of the user device; determining that the volume of the user device has gradually been reduced by the user input until a mute state has been reached in which audio output of the user device is disabled; and in response to determining that the volume of the user device has gradually been reduced until the mute state has been reached, automatically causing subtitles of a first video of the plurality of videos to be displayed during playback of the first video.
