Portable lathes, portable lathe assembly kits, and associated methods. A portable lathe comprises two frame members, a plurality of guide bars, a tool assembly supported by the guide bars, and a feed assembly for translating the tool assembly along the guide bars. The feed assembly includes a first fixed linear feed element, a second fixed linear feed element, a driving rotary feed element, and a driven rotary feed element, and is configured such that rotating the driving rotary feed element translates the tool assembly along the guide bars. A portable lathe assembly kit comprises components of the portable lathe configured to be assembled together to install the portable lathe on a cylindrical workpiece. In some examples, a method of utilizing the portable lathe assembly kit comprises operatively receiving the cylindrical workpiece within the frame members by securing the cylindrical workpiece to a first lathe clamshell subassembly and operatively coupling a second lathe clamshell subassembly to the first lathe clamshell subassembly.

Adjustable feed mechanisms, machining assemblies including the same, and associated methods. An adjustable feed mechanism includes a plurality of cam segments and a cam lifter configured to pivot each cam segment about a corresponding cam pivot point. An adjustable feed mechanism additionally includes a cam follower and a feed output assembly. The cam follower moves along the cam segments sequentially and is pivotally coupled to the feed output assembly. The cam follower pivots through a cam activation angle when moving along a given cam segment to produce the feed output. A machining assembly includes a mount assembly, a rotary element, and an adjustable feed mechanism. A method of utilizing a machining assembly to machine a work piece includes engaging the work piece with a machining assembly, positioning the tool head with respect to the work surface of the work piece, and machining the work surface.

Adjustable feed mechanisms, machining assemblies including the same, and associated methods

Machine tools and methods for machining turbine rotor assemblies are disclosed. Some machine tools include a drill arm that pushes off of a turbine stage that is adjacent to a turbine stage to be machined. Some machine tools include a clamping arm that secures the machine tool to a turbine stage to be machined and an adjacent turbine stage. Some methods include pushing-off of a turbine stage that is adjacent to a turbine stage to be machined. Some methods include securing a machine tool to a turbine stage that is adjacent to a turbine stage to be machined. Some methods include monitoring at least one of a current delivered to a first motor and a voltage applied to the first motor and controlling a second motor in response to the monitoring. Some methods include sequentially machining a turbine stage with cutting tools having increasing lengths and/or diameters.
