Discussed generally herein are systems and methods for comfort level regulation in a building. A comfort level regulation system for a building can include a plurality of air intakes configured to draw air into the building, and a processor configured to open the one or more air intakes of the plurality of air intakes as a function of an orientation of the building, the location of the air intake relative to the orientation of the building, air temperatures inside and outside the building, and humidity inside and outside the building.

Thermostat

A thermostat method and apparatus has one or more demand circuits, an energy storage device; a DC regulator connected to the energy storage device, and a thermostat control connected to the DC regulator and to the energy storage device. Current is drawn from the one or more demand circuits when demand associated with the demand circuits is not active and the energy storage device is charged with the current drawn from the one or more demand circuits. If energy stored in the energy storage device is below the first predetermined threshold, activity in the thermostat is reduced and if energy stored in the energy storage device is above the second predetermined threshold, activity in the thermostat is allowed to increase.

Energy efficient thermostat

In a thermostat having a plurality of demand circuits and a thermostat controller, a method of controlling devices connected to the demand circuits. One or more demand circuits in a thermostat are connected to devices in an HVAC system. The thermostat is configured to associate each connected demand circuit with the device to which it is connected and control signals are routed from the thermostat controller to the one or more demand circuits to control devices associated with the demand circuits.

System and method for wiring-relay configuration in digital thermostats

A system, method and kit for forming a powered communications interface in a computer system having a computer housing. A processor, a power supply and a communications interface are installed in the computer housing. The power supply includes a ground rail, a first power rail having a first nominal voltage and a second power rail having a second nominal voltage. The processor is connected to the power supply and the communications interface. A booster is connected to the first power rail and is used to boost power from the first power rail to a third nominal voltage and to place the third nominal voltage on a third power rail. An externally accessible connector having a ground conductor and first, second and third power conductors is connected to the booster and the power supplies such that, wherein the first conductor is connected to the first power rail, the second conductor is connected to the second power rail and the third conductor is connected to the third power rail.

System and method for routing data and power to external devices

A system and apparatus providing power management and legacy support. An uninterruptable power supply is combined with a bus control module. The bus control module provides legacy support through a single connectivity. The bus control module monitors and controls power distribution within the system. A bus hub unit is coupled to the bus control module and provides a plurality of ports to which bus functions may be coupled.

Systems, devices and methods are provided for expanding an interface to a computer. According to one aspect, a device is provided, including a backplane and at least one expansion card. The backplane includes at least one expansion slot and an upstream connector for connecting with the computer. The expansion card is adapted for coupling with the expansion slot. The expansion card includes at least one port to provide an interface with the computer. According to one aspect, an apparatus is provided, including a control module, a hub coupled to the control module and adapted for providing USB/USB+ outputs, and an external functions unit coupled to the hub and adapted for providing outputs.

Bus control module for improving legacy support

A method and apparatus for improving power consumption characteristics of a system having an active mode and a low power mode. A signal source, such as a system clock, switches when the system is in active mode and does not switch when the system is in low power mode. An activity monitor is coupled to the signal source to detect if the signal source is switching. Based on the detection, the activity monitor drives switching control logic. The switching control logic disconnects nonessential auxiliary circuits from the power supply in response to a detection of a non-switching condition. When switching resumes, the switching control logic is driven by the activity monitor to restore power to the auxiliary circuit fast enough that power up does not delay system operation.

Method and apparatus for improving power characteristics in a system having a reduced power mode

A method and apparatus for improving communication capability between computer devices and peripherals scans a data signal for a valid synchronizing sequence. If no valid synchronizing sequence is detected within a predetermined amount of time, the polarity of the data signal is inverted. Polarity of the data signal is latched when a valid synchronizing sequence is detected. In another aspect of the invention, a header block that receives a connector also includes a first wire bus and a second wire bus. Jumpers are employed to connect the first pin of the connector to the first wire bus and the second pin of the connector to the second wire bus.
