A multilayer, oriented shrink film includes a core layer, skin layers on opposed sides of the core layer, and an interlayer between each skin layer and the core layer for bonding each skin layer to the core layer. The core layer comprises a polypropylene terpolymer, at least one polybutene-1 copolymer and at least one polypropylene elastomeric copolymer including ethylene. At least one skin layer comprises at least one amorphous glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate. At least one interlayer includes a polypropylene terpolymer and an ethylene copolymer with vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate. The shrink film has a shrinkage of greater than 50% at 95&#xb0; C. in one of the machine direction and transverse direction of film formation and has a density below 1.0 g/cm3.

Oriented multilayer shrink films with amorphous copolyester skin layers

Oriented, multilayer shrink films, either clear or opaque, comprise a core layer and at least one skin layer. The core layer has a thickness greater than the thickness of the at least one skin layer. The at least one skin layer comprises at least one cyclic-olefin copolymer as the predominant component thereof. The core layer comprises a blend of a polyolefin polymer and a polybutene-1 copolymer with ethylene, the butene-1 constituting over 75% by weight of the polybutene-1 copolymer. The film has a shrinkage of at least 20% in at least one of the machine and transverse directions of formation when said film is heated to a temperature of between 80 and 100&#xb0; C. Optionally the films can include a propylene-based elastomer, a styrenic based block copolymer elastomer, reclaim including the components of the film, or combinations thereof.

Shrink film

The invention includes a biaxially oriented, multi-layer film including a base layer, at least one intermediate layer and at least one skin layer. The base layer and at least one intermediate layer includes a blend of crystalline polypropylene wax and a high crystallinity polypropylene.

A metallized multi-layer film having ultra-high oxygen and moisture barrier properties includes a core layer and a metal bonding layer preferably formed by coextruding. The metal bonding layer includes a preponderance, by weight, of a propylene/butene-1 copolymer free of particulates. A metal coating adhered to the metal bonding layer having a metal adhesion strength to the metal coating in excess of 90%, and the metallized film includes an oxygen barrier of less than 15.0 cc/m2/day and a water barrier of less than 0.1 gms/m2/day.

Processing aid for aiding in orienting an extruded film layer including a preponderance, by weight, of a high crystalline polypropylene is a crystalline polypropylene wax. An oriented film layer including a blend of crystalline polypropylene wax and high crystallinity polypropylene homopolymer is part of the invention. The invention includes a method of forming an oriented film layer including a preponderance by weight of a high crystallinity polypropylene and includes the steps of blending a high crystallinity polypropylene with a crystalline polypropylene wax, directing the blend through an extruder to form a film layer and then orienting the film layer. The invention includes a biaxially oriented, multi-layer film including a base layer and at least one skin layer. The base layer includes a blend of crystalline metallocene catalyzed polypropylene wax and a high crystallinity polypropylene.

A solvent resistant label for attachment to a container that includes a solvent therein includes at least one, and preferably two solvent resistant outer surface layers that are resistant to the solvent in the container. A combination of the solvent resistant label and container also constitutes part of this invention.

A multilayer holographic film includes a first layer and an embossed layer on at least one side of the first layer and having a micro-embossed holographic image therein. The embossed layer is thinner than the first layer and has a lower embossing temperature than the first layer. The hologram-receiving layer with a micro-embossed holographic image embossed therein is adapted to receive a metal layer thereon, if desired, and the layer includes a cycloolefin copolymer as the primary polymer component.

A high barrier composition to a gas or organic liquid usable as a coating or layer on an article. The composition includes a blend of polyetheramine resin and at least one additive being a highly hydrolyzed organic compound, preferably of a low molecular weight, either with our without boric acid. Articles employing the gas barrier composition also constitute a part of this invention.

A multilayer holographic film including a core layer and a hologram-receiving layer having a lower melting point than said core layer on at least one side of the core layer for including an embossed, holographic image therein and being adapted to receive a metal layer thereon, said hologram-receiving layer(s) include(s) a butene-propylene random copolymer having a melting point in the range of between about 125&deg; C. and about 145&deg; C. and blends thereof; a metallocene catalyzed, isotactic C2/C3 random copolymer with a C2 content of at least about 2% having a melting point in the range of between about 120&deg; C. and about 140&deg; C. and blends thereof or a high density polyethylene homopolymer having a melting point in the range of between about 120&deg; C. and about 130&deg; C. and blends thereof.

Holographic films

A packaging film is provided which has a cold seal cohesive receptive skin layer made up of at least one of (A) and (B), wherein (A) is up to 100% by weight a first polymer blend, and (B) is up to 100% by weight of an optional second component. The first polymer blend is made of high density polyethylene and polyisobutylene. The second optional component is selected from (i) up to 100% by weight of styrene-butadiene copolymer, and (ii) up to 75% by weight of a functionally modified polyethylene.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene films with improved cold seal receptive

Packaging films include a polymeric surface layer made from a blend of polyolefin and thermoplastic rubber, particularly a blend of polyolefin and styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) block copolymer or styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer. The films provide a matte-finish surface without the need for surface treatments. The films can alternatively be surface modified to provide excellent cold seal receptive layers.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene films having matte-finish and improved

Packaging film having a surface providing improved release properties from cold seal cohesives. The improved cold seal release properties prevent roll blocking when the film is unspooled from roll stock. Web and laminate packaging films are disclosed which incorporate the improved release properties. The packaging film finds special utility in packaging of heat sensitive articles.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene film with cold seal release surface

A coextruded biaxially oriented polyolefin packaging film has a cold seal release layer, a core layer, and a cold seal receptive skin layer. The release layer is made of (A) about 10% to about 60% by weight ethylene-butylene random copolymer containing between 0% and about 6.0% by weight ethylene and between about 94% and 100% by weight butylene; (B) a blend of two polymers selected from the group consisting of polyethylene ionomers, syndiotactic homopolymer polypropylene, conventional polyethylenes having densities of between 0.91 and 0.965 gm/cm.sup.3, and metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene plastomers; and optionally (C) a non-migratory slip agent present in an amount sufficient to decrease the coefficient of friction of the release layer. Alternatively, the release layer may be made of a two-component blend of the ethylene-butylene random copolymer and high density polyethylene. The packaging films exhibit excellent cold seal release, coefficient of friction, and a matte finish surface without the need for migratory slip additives or an overprint varnish.

Matte finish biaxially oriented polypropylene film for cold seal release

An aroma barrier layer for a packaging film is provided which contains a homogeneous blend of an amorphous nylon component and a maleic anhydride-modified polyolefin component. The maleic-anhydride content in the polyolefin component and the relative amounts of the two components are selected such that the two components are compatible with one another and the barrier layer constitutes a continuous homogeneous layer substantially free of any platelet formation and distinct layers. Compositions of the homogeneous blend and packaging films including the barrier layer are also provided.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene aroma barrier film

The invention presents a new use for modified polypropylene films, wherein the films are cold sealable for heat sensitive packaging operations. The films comprise in the following order: a cold seal cohesive layer, a core layer, and a cold seal release layer comprising a mixture of about 1 to 80% by weight butene-propylene copolymer and about 99 to 20% by weight butylene-ethylene copolymer.
