In a preferred embodiment, systems and methods for delivering oxygen to a passenger of an aircraft via an oxygen mask having one or more sensors involve analyzing blood oxygen saturation measurements from the sensor(s) to determine a current oxygen saturation level, determining the current oxygen saturation level is insufficient, and adjusting an oxygen flow rate to the mask to compensate for the current blood oxygen saturation level.

Pulse saturation oxygen delivery system and method

In one embodiment of an aircraft emergency oxygen delivery system, power can be generated by the flow of gas over a transducer disposed inside an oxygen delivery tube. A pressure differential gives rise to a temperature difference across the transducer, and the temperature difference can be converted to a voltage. The voltage can be quadratically dependent upon the Mach number M (e.g. flow velocities from 1 to 140 m/s) and proportional to a Seebeck coefficient of the transducer. The power thus generated may be used to operate LED indicators visible from the exterior of the tube, a variety of sensors, and wireless communication with a central control system. Oxygen flow to a mask may be adjusted based on ambient oxygen content and data collected from a passenger wearing the mask, including a blood oxygen saturation level, pulse or respiration rate.

A system and method for delivering oxygen to a passenger of an aircraft including a a supply of oxygen, an oral-nasal mask, a controller for adjusting a flow of oxygen from the supply of oxygen to the oral-nasal mask, and a sensor for determining a user's blood oxygen saturation level, wherein the controller adjusts the flow of oxygen based on the sensor's determination of the user's blood oxygen saturation level.

A self-contained breathing device for use in fighting fires comprising a hood for covering a wearer's head, a membrane for sealing the hood to create a breathing chamber inside the hood, and a source of oxygen disposed inside the hood. The source of oxygen is connected to the user by a conduit inside of the hood, and another conduit directs user-exhaled carbon dioxide to the source of oxygen. The breathing device includes a visual indicator inside of the hood that reacts to the presence of a gas within the hood and provides visual feedback to the user based on a quantity of the gas present in the hood.

A flow indicator of a breathing apparatus that indicates a flow of a breathing-gas includes a structure within a conduit for delivering the breathable gas, where the structure undergoes a change as a result of a presence of the breathable gas or a movement of the breathable gas past the structure. The flow indicator also includes a gas flow display that is actuated by the change in the structure to visually indicate a presence or flow of the breathable gas, where the display is powered by the change in the structure without any outside power supply.

An elongated rod-type body support () extends downwardly through the upper jaw () and presents a pleating surface (), so that upon reciprocation of lower jaw (), the jaw lugs () successively engage the body () to form pleats ().
