Surgical support instruments are described herein that can couple to, e.g., an implanted anchor and provide a platform for coupling other surgical implements thereto. In one embodiment, an instrument can include an elongate body having opposed projections extending laterally from a distal portion thereof that can at least partially surround a shank of an implantable anchor such that a longitudinal axis of the elongate body is laterally offset from a longitudinal axis of the anchor. The instrument can further include a lock configured to exert a drag force on a head of the anchor to control polyaxial movement of the instrument relative to the anchor. Further, a proximal portion of the elongate body can be configured to receive a retractor assembly including a plurality of tissue manipulating implements and selectively lock the retractor assembly at any of a plurality of positions along a length of the elongate body.

Surgical tissue retraction systems and methods are described herein. Such systems and methods can be employed in some embodiments to provide medial-lateral tissue retraction to increase access to a surgical site. In one embodiment, a surgical instrument can include a body configured to couple to an implantable anchor, a first tissue manipulating implement coupled to the body and capable of polyaxial movement relative thereto, and a second tissue manipulating implement coupled to the body and capable of polyaxial movement relative thereto. Further, the first and second tissue manipulating implements can be opposed to one another such that they can move any of toward and away from one another.

Various methods and devices are provided for bone screw fixation. In one exemplary embodiment, the methods and devices provide a bone fixation device that includes a receiving head having a recess adapted to seat a spinal rod therein and a shank extending distally from the receiving head. An anti-rotation mechanism can be located distal of a distal end of the receiving head and around a proximal portion of the shank, and it can be configured to interact with bone to prevent rotation of at least a portion of the bone fixation device relative to the bone.

A device for delivery of a spinal rod to a bone anchor includes an inner tube and an outer tube disposed about at least a portion of the inner tube. The inner tube is adjustable relative to the outer tube along the longitudinal axis of the outer tube between a first position and a second position in which the distal end of the inner tube contacts the bone anchor. A spring is interposed between the inner tube and the outer tube to bias the inner tube distally. A locking member is coupled to the outer tube and is adjustable between a proximal position in which the locking member is spaced apart from the inner tube and a distal position in which the locking member inhibits proximal axial motion of the inner tube relative to the outer tube.

Methods and devices for minimally invasive spinal connection element delivery

The modular track luminaire system of the present invention is a modular lighting system which has a lighting unit which is electronically connected to a remote ballast housing by a removable and reattachable insulated cord and plug system, the luminaire unit electrically connected to the ballast housing through the flexible cord and plug system thereby allowing the entire system to be modularized.

The track fixture described has an accessory ring hingedly attached to the main portion of the track fixture luminaire. The hinge interposed between the accessory ring and the support ring or luminaire housing allows for both rotational and outward movement such that the accessory ring may be moved outward and away from the lamp and rotate about the support ring without interference between the accessory ring and the support ring or luminaire housing. The two movement hinge design is compact and allows for a clean outer appearance of the track fixture luminaire.

The present invention provides a side-entry lamping fixture and cartridge, comprising a fixture having an upper fixture wall and a lower fixture wall, first and second sidewalls joining said upper and lower fixture walls and, at least one of the first and second sidewalls having a re-lamping aperture. The apparatus further comprises a lamping cartridge having a cover including a socket attached to the cover, a lamp in electrical communication with the socket and a fastening portion extending from the cover. The fixture and cartridge provide for a removable lamp which may be replaced without interfering with the fixture walls or a reflector therein, yet remain properly oriented when installed.
