Tool for installing O-rings in an inner diameter of a structure includes a plurality of held in a spaced, fixed parallel relationship to one another. A plurality of guide surfaces are secured with and disposed between the plates. A selectively-actuable finger actuator is disposed to move a plurality of fingers generally radially between the plurality of plates. Each of the plates includes a slot, and a loading pin is configured to be received within the slots. When at least one O-ring is disposed about a plurality of guide surfaces proximal the periphery of the plates, and the loading pin is moved within the slots, the loading pin pulls a loop of the O-rings toward the plate axis. When the loading pin is removed, the finger actuator may be actuated to move the fingers in the generally radial direction to move the at least one O-ring radially outward from the plates.

The inner surface can having one or more sealing grooves adapted to receive and retain respective sealing rings. A maximum outer diameter of the ring-shaped body can be defined by the outer surface and can be greater than a height of the ring-shaped body in a longitudinal direction of the ring-shaped body.

An angled transition can define a change in thickness from the thick portion to the thin portion.

A method of operating an engine is provided. The engine may include a combustion chamber and a working member positioned adjacent the combustion chamber. The method may include providing a source of fuel for the engine. The method may also include starting the engine producing power by combusting fuel in the combustion chamber to drive the working member. Additionally, the method may include selectively controlling delivery of the fuel to the combustion chamber at least partially as a function of an air temperature in response to achieving at least one predetermined condition involving the air temperature. The air temperature may be at least one of an ambient air temperature and an intake air temperature.

A method of initially operating an internal combustion engine including operating the engine in a start-up mode is provided. The start-up mode includes injecting at least two fuel pre-shots wherein a first of the fuel pre-shots is smaller in quantity than a last of the fuel pre-shots. An engine is provided including an electronic controller with a computer readable medium having a control algorithm recorded thereon, the control algorithm including means for commanding injection of a main fuel shot and at least two fuel pre-shots wherein a first of the fuel pre-shots is smaller in quantity than a last of the fuel pre-shots.

A method and apparatus for controlling a fuel injector assembly of an internal combustion engine during cold operation thereof is disclosed. If a combustion-absent condition is detected in one or more of the cylinders associated with the engine, an engine control module cuts out the affected cylinders thereby preventing additional fuel from being delivered to the cylinders for a predetermined period of time, such as 4-5 seconds. During the period of time in which the cylinders are cut out, the pistons in the remaining cylinders associated with the engine continue to operate thereby heating the engine block. After the predetermined period of time, fuel is again injected into the cylinders if a combustion-present condition is detected therein.

Apparatus and method for controlling a fuel injector assembly of an internal combustion engine during cold operation thereof

A system and method for the identification of the fuel used in an electronically controlled internal combustion engine that may utilize an advanced fuel such as a fuel emulsion is provided. Where an unauthorized fuel is determined to be used in the engine, the electronic control module disables the engine by limiting fuel flow to the injectors.
