A microstrip transmission line comprising a dielectric substrate including a series of periodic sinusoidal undulation portions defining spaced apart peaks and troughs, where a distance between the peaks and troughs defines a period of the microstrip line, and where each peak defines a maximum height of the substrate and each trough defines a minimum height of the substrate. The transmission line further includes a conductive strip formed to a surface of the substrate so that the conductive strip follows the undulation portions. The conductive strip includes a modulation portion in a width direction of the conductive strip perpendicular to a signal propagation direction along the strip, where the modulation portion includes a minimum width portion provided at each peak and a maximum width portion provided at each trough so that a variation of a ratio between the width of the conductive strip and the height of the substrate is maximized.

A passive radiometric system for thermally imaging objects in a scene. The system includes a digital square-law quantizer circuit including a plurality of comparators and a voltage divider network having a plurality of resistors. Each comparator receives a different reference signal generated by the voltage divider network and a common power signal from an antenna and outputs a high or low digital bit signal. The system also includes a delta-sigma circuit having a weighting table responsive to the digital bit signals from the comparators that converts the digital bit signals to a normalized bit word. The delta-sigma circuit also includes an accumulator that receives the digital bit words from the weighting table and provides an average of the digital bit words. The system also includes a digital-to-analog converter that converts the averaged bit words to an analog signal that is provided as a feedback signal to the quantizer circuit.

Delta-sigma digital radiometric system

A rain screen system for attaching an array of panels to the outside of a building, by means of a track system. The track system includes a series of horizontal mounting tracks that extend across the entire width of the panel array. Each horizontal mounting track has an upturned building-side leg that forms both a mounting flange, through a local shim, to the building, as well as the building side of a water tight, continuous, self draining gutter system. Each track also has an upturned panel-side leg that forms both a mounting flange for the lower edge of a panel and the panel side of the gutter system. Each track also forms a water seal at the top edge of the panel. The gutter system has a weep holes on the panel side of the gutter system, adapted so that drainage is fed to the top of the lower panel.

A plurality of differential encoders encodes a plurality of parallel data bit streams. XOR gates interleave the outputs of the differential encoders forming a single high speed differentially encoded bit stream with a data rate that is the sum of the data rate of the parallel data bit streams. The high speed data stream provides a single differentially encoded input to a differential phase shift keying modulator that generates symbols for a high speed optical communication system.

A tiltrotor aircraft having a wing and a rotatable pylon carried by the wing is disclosed. The pylon is secured to a pylon support spindle that extends into the wing. A link connects a radial portion of the pylon support spindle to a radial portion of an actuator spindle, such that the pylon support spindle is rotated as the actuator spindle is rotated.

Multiple sensor signals are used to modulate an equal number of frequency-spaced carrier signals in a directional parametric upconverting amplifier. Basically, the carrier signals are separated in a cascaded or parallel configuration of narrow frequency passbands, which also modulate the carrier signals with low-frequency sensor signals. The modulated carrier signals are multiplexed and output over a single signal path, thereby reducing power dissipation. Preferably implemented in superconducting circuitry, the multiplexed amplifier facilitates multiplexing of as many as hundreds of sensor signals and achieves both amplification and upconverting with minimal dissipation of power.

Multiplexed amplifier

A receiver ( ) for a wireless telecommunications system that provides relatively wideband signal processing of received signals without increased signal distortion so that multiple received signals can be simultaneously processed. The receiver ( ) includes a specialized LNA ( ), frequency down-converter ( ) and ADC ( ) to perform the wideband signal processing while maintaining receiver performance. The frequency down-converter ( ) employs a suitable mixer ( ), BPA ( ), attenuator ( ), and transformer ( ) that are tuned to provide the desired frequency down-conversion and amplitude control over the desired wideband. The down-converter devices are selected depending on the particular performance criteria of the ADC ( ). A specialized digital channelizer ( ) is included in the receiver ( ) that receives the digital signal from the ADC ( ), and separates the signals into the multiple channels. In one embodiment, the frequency down-conversion is performed in a single down-conversion process, and the ADC ( ) employs delta-sigma processing to provide digital conversion over the complete frequency band. In an alternate embodiment, the frequency down-conversion is performed in a double down-conversion process so that a less complex ADC ( ) can be used.

A receiver ( ) for a wireless telecommunications system that provides relatively wideband signal processing of received signals without increased signal distortion so that multiple received signals can be simultaneously processed. The receiver ( ) includes a specialized LNA ( ), frequency down-converter ( ) and ADC ( ) to perform the wideband signal processing while maintaining receiver performance. A specialized digital channelizer ( ) is included in the receiver ( ) that receives the digital signal from the ADC ( ), and separates the signals into the multiple channels. Architecture for multi-carrier receiver

A multi-channel transmission system and method provide peak power smoothing without additional in-band interference. The system includes a multi-carrier waveform generator for reducing peak amplifier power required to transmit a digital multi-carrier waveform based on a plurality of digital carrier waveforms. A signal conversion system generates an analog multi-carrier waveform based on the digital multi-carrier waveform. The analog multi-carrier waveform has a center frequency and a desired gain over the original signal. A bandpass filter is coupled to the signal conversion system for restriction of the analog multi-carrier output waveform to a desired transmission bandwidth. The multi-carrier waveform generator has a nulling waveform generator coupled to a plurality of single carrier waveform modules for generating a digital nulling waveform based on the retrieved data. The nulling waveform reduces a peak power of the multi-carrier waveform and results in a reduced signal envelope.

A panel insert for use with a structural panel and a fastener having a hold out mechanism. The panel insert comprises a body portion disposed within the structural panel. The body portion includes a first surface, an opposing second surface, and an aperture passing therethrough for receiving the fastener. A recessed portion opening to the second surface is provided to receive the hold out mechanism and secure the fastener to the structural panel.
