A system and method can provide nose, such as wind noise, mitigation and/or microphone blending. Some methods may include sampling a sound signal from a plurality of microphones to generate a frame comprising a plurality of time-frequency tiles of the sound signal, each time-frequency tile including respective values of at least one feature from the plurality of microphones, comparing the respective values of the at least one feature to determine whether each time-frequency tile satisfies a similarity threshold, and flagging each time-frequency tile as noise if it fails to satisfy the similarity threshold, grouping the plurality of time-frequency tiles into sets of frequency-adjacent time-frequency tiles, and for each set of frequency-adjacent time-frequency tiles in the frame: counting a number of flagged time-frequency tiles, and attenuating all of the time-frequency tiles in the each set if the number exceeds a noise bin count threshold to thereby reduce noise in the sound signal.

Wind noise mitigation systems and methods

An ear-mountable listening device includes a plurality of electroacoustic transducers, a manifold, and an output port. The plurality of electroacoustic transducers emit audio in response to an audio signal. The plurality of electroacoustic transducers includes a first transducer and a second transducer. The manifold is coupled to the plurality of electroacoustic transducers. The manifold is shaped to position the first transducer and the second transducer to face one another and form a front cavity disposed between the first transducer and the second transducer. The output port is coupled to the manifold to direct the audio from the front cavity into an ear when the plurality of electroacoustic transducers emits the audio.

Ear-mountable listening device with multiple transducers

A microphone device includes a substrate having a first surface, a wall disposed on the first surface, a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) transducer, and an integrated circuit. Both the MEMS transducer and the integrated circuit are mounted on the first surface of the wall. The wall separates the MEMS transducer from the integrated circuit and acoustically isolates the MEMS transducer from the integrated circuit. The microphone device additionally includes a first set of wires extending through the wall and electrically connecting the MEMS transducer to the integrated circuit. The microphone device further includes a second set of wires electrically connecting the integrated circuit to a conductor on the substrate.

Prevention of buzz noise in smart microphones

Systems and methods for improved acoustic echo cancellation are provided. In various embodiments, a microphone located in the loudspeaker enclosure provides a first signal that is used to estimate the loudspeaker displacement which is proportional to the sound pressure level (SPL) inside the enclosure. A second signal is then derived by mapping the displacement to the loudspeaker's force factor (Bl(x)) and then modulating this by a measured current to a voice coil inside the speaker to provide an estimate of the force acting on the moving mass of the loudspeaker. The first signal is highly correlated with the echo signal for low frequencies and the second signal is highly correlated with the echo signal for high frequencies. The two signals are then combined to provide a single improved AEC reference signal.

System and method for generating an improved reference signal for acoustic echo cancellation

An acoustic apparatus and method produces an acoustic signal in response to an electrical input signal applied to an acoustic receiver. The acoustic signal is converted to an electrical output signal that is proportional to a sound pressure of the acoustic signal, using an electro-acoustic transducer. In some embodiments the apparatus and method determine whether there is a change in the acoustic signal indicative of a change in an acoustic load coupled to the receiver by comparing the electrical output signal to reference information. The change in acoustic load, in one example, is attributable to ear wax accumulation in an output of the acoustic receiver or acoustic passage in the ear canal of a user or is attributable to seal leakage.

A pre-distorted electrical excitation signal is generated for an acoustic transducer having an armature and a non-linear transfer characteristic by applying an electrical input signal (x) representative of a desired acoustic output to a computable non-linear function that is a function of the electrical input signal (x). When applied to an input of the transducer, the pre-distorted electrical excitation signal results in an improved acoustic output signal.

Armature-based acoustic receiver having improved output and method

Systems and methods for active noise cancellation are provided. An example method includes receiving at least two reference signals associated with at least two reference positions. Each of the at least two reference signals includes at least one captured acoustic sound representing an unwanted noise. The reference signals are filtered by individual filters to obtain filtered signals. The filtered signals are combined to obtain a feedforward signal. The feedforward signal is played back to reduce the unwanted noise at a pre-determined space location. The individual filters are determined based on linear combinations of at least two transfer functions. Each of the at least two transfer functions is associated with one of the reference positions. In certain embodiments, the at least two reference signals are captured by at least two feedforward microphones.

Multi-microphone feedforward active noise cancellation

Systems and methods for acoustic echo cancellation are provided. An example method includes receiving a reference signal. The reference signal represents at least one sound captured inside an enclosure of a loudspeaker. The loudspeaker is operable to play back a far end signal. The method also includes receiving an acoustic signal. The acoustic signal represents at least one sound captured outside the enclosure of the loudspeaker. The acoustic signal includes at least a near end signal and the far end signal. The method enables attenuation, using the reference signal, the far end signal in the acoustic signal. The reference signal can be captured by a low sensitivity microphone placed inside the enclosure of the loudspeaker. The attenuation of the far end signal may include subtractive cancellation.

Acoustic echo cancellation reference signal

An acoustic transducer comprises one or more electromagnetic motors that drive one or more sets of multiple diaphragms to provide acoustically efficient loudspeaker systems having dimensions that allow use in applications that would be difficult or impossible with traditional transducers. The diaphragms may be driven directly, inertially or fluidically. If diaphragms are driven by rods that pass through holes in the diaphragms, noise may be generated by air that leaks through the pass-through holes. This noise may be reduced or eliminated by measures that reduce or eliminate the air leakage.

Acoustic transducer comprising a plurality of coaxially arranged diaphragms

An acoustic transducer includes a housing, a plurality of diaphragms suspended from the housing and separated into one or more groups, and one or more motors combined with the housing that operate in response to an electrical signal. The diaphragms of each group are driven by a respective motor to which all the diaphragms in the group are coupled and at least one motor has an indirect coupling with no direct mechanical connection to the diaphragms driven thereby. One or more electromagnetic motors that drive one or more sets of multiple diaphragms to provide acoustically efficient loudspeaker systems having dimensions that allow use in applications that would be difficult or impossible with traditional transducers.
