A single trip multi-zone completion system includes a plurality of completion sections operatively coupled together and extendable within a wellbore. Each completion section includes a base pipe providing an interior and defining one or more perforations at a single axial location to provide fluid communication between the interior and an annulus defined between the completion section and a wellbore wall. One or more sand screens are radially offset from the base pipe such that a flow annulus is defined therebetween, and a production sleeve is movably arranged within the interior of the base pipe between a closed position, where the production sleeve occludes the one or more perforations, and an open position, where the one or more perforations are exposed. A shunt system is positioned about the base pipe to receive and redirect a gravel slurry flowing in the annulus, and thereby provide an alternate flow path for the gravel slurry.

Alternate flow paths for single trip multi-zone systems

Presented is a method of completing a subterranean well having an open wellbore extending through a subterranean formation having a target zone. In a preferred embodiment, a tubing assembly is placed in the wellbore, extending through the target zone. An annular space is defined between the outer surface of the tubing assembly and the wellbore wall. A gravel pack is placed in the annular space along at least a length of the target zone. Then an annular barrier forming material is flowed into the annular space along at least a length of the target zone. Then the annular barrier forming material is 'set' to create an annular barrier in the annular space. The annular barrier forming material can be carried on the tubing assembly or pumped downhole. Flow restrictors, such as packers or a gravel pack, can be used to restrict flow of the annular barrier forming material to allow the material to set into an annular barrier.

Method and apparatus for creating an annular barrier in a subterranean wellbore

Screen assemblies capable of being disposed in a bore for hydrocarbon fluid production are described. The screen assemblies can support filter mediums and reduce or eliminate plugging by swellable material. One screen assembly includes filter mediums supported by a rigid member located exterior to a portion of a base pipe. The rigid member can include openings through which the filter mediums can be in fluid communication with an inner diameter of the base pipe. Swellable material can be disposed exterior to a second portion of the base pipe adjacent to the rigid member. The filter mediums can be displaced to contact a wellbore and the rigid members can help reduce or prevent plugging of screen assembly openings.

Control screen assembly

A method of controlling a blowout comprises: releasing at least a first tubing string into a portion of a well system, wherein the step of releasing comprises activating a release table; and causing or allowing a blowout preventer to close. The methods further comprise: compressing at least a portion of a second tubing string and a third tubing string together, wherein the step of compressing comprises activating a crimping device; cutting through the wall of at least a third tubing string, wherein the step of cutting comprises activating a cutting device, and wherein the step of cutting is performed after the step of compressing; and releasing at least the second tubing string and the third tubing string into a portion of a well system, wherein the step of releasing comprises activating a release table.

Methods of releasing at least one tubing string below a blow-out preventer

A method of completing at least a portion of an open-hole wellbore comprises: positioning a sand control assembly in the portion of the open-hole wellbore, wherein the sand control assembly comprises a screen; positioning at least one conduit adjacent to the sand control assembly; positioning a sheath in the portion of the open-hole wellbore, wherein the sheath is a non-porous tubular, and wherein the sheath is positioned such that a sheath annulus exists between the inside wall of the sheath and the outside wall of at least a portion of both, the sand control assembly and the at least one conduit; and introducing a treatment fluid into the portion of the open-hole wellbore.

Methods of preventing premature fracturing of a subterranean formation using a sheath

A method of drilling and completing a well can include drilling a section of a wellbore, positioning a perforated shroud in the section of the wellbore, securing the perforated shroud by setting a hanger, and isolating the section of the wellbore from a remainder of the wellbore vertically above the section of the wellbore. The drilling, positioning, securing and isolating steps can be performed while the section of the wellbore is not exposed to a liquid column extending to a surface location. The drilling, positioning, securing and isolating steps can be performed in a single trip of a drill string into the wellbore.

Controlled hydrostatic pressure completion system

A method of treating a subterranean formation including providing a well bore that includes a filter cake on at least a portion of the well bore and contacting at least a portion of the filter cake with a filter cake degradation fluid comprising a relative permeability modifier. The method also includes allowing the relative permeability modifier to retain at least a portion of the filter cake degradation fluid in the well bore for a time sufficient to contact the filtercake and allowing the filter cake to degrade.
