In some aspects, an electro-acoustic driver includes: a diaphragm having a surface area configured to radiate acoustic energy; a suspension coupled to the diaphragm, wherein the suspension is non-planar in a resting position; and a support structure coupled to the suspension and having an outer linear dimension in a plane of the support structure of approximately 6.0 millimeters (mm) or less, wherein the surface area of the diaphragm is at least 49% of an overall cross-sectional area of the electro-acoustic driver in the plane of the support structure; and wherein the suspension between an inner side wall of the support structure and the diaphragm has a rounded shape in the resting position.

Highly compliant miniature transducer

An active noise reduction earbud includes a housing and a first feedforward microphone disposed in the housing. A first sound inlet opening extends through the housing and is configured to conduct external sound to the first feedforward microphone. The first sound inlet opening is configured to sit within a concha cavum of a user's ear and faces toward an auricle of the user's ear when the earbud is worn.

A wearable audio device with an electro-acoustic transducer that is configured to create audio output. The transducer has a transducer magnet that produces a transducer magnetic field having a magnetic field strength, and a magnetic structure such as a cup that guides the transducer magnetic field. The transducer magnet is on the inside of the magnetic structure. There is a magnetic field sensor outside of the magnetic structure; the magnetic field sensor is constructed and arranged to sense the Earth's magnetic field. A nulling magnet is coupled to or proximate the outside of the magnetic structure and is constructed and arranged to produce a nulling magnetic field that reduces the strength of the transducer magnetic field at the magnetic field sensor.

An electro-acoustic driver includes a diaphragm formed of a compliant material, a bobbin configured to hold a winding of an electrical conductor and a housing having a housing axis that is substantially coaxial with the bobbin. The diaphragm is fixed to one end of the housing and has a substantially planar shape when the diaphragm is at rest. A stiffening element is fixed to an inner region of a surface of the diaphragm. A motion of the bobbin along a bobbin axis generates a movement of the inner region of the diaphragm to thereby generate an acoustic signal that propagates from the diaphragm.

A microphone adaptor comprises a body having a first end, a second end, and an opening extending from the first end to the second end. The second end is in communication with an electro-acoustic driver. A coupling mechanism is at the first end of the body for receiving a sensing microphone and securing the microphone against the body at a predetermined fixed distance from the electro-acoustic driver.

An electro-acoustic transducer is provided that comprises a diaphragm and a magnet assembly comprising a magnet and a back plate. The back plate comprises at least one first vent. The diaphragm generates sound during a movement of the diaphragm relative to the back plate. The transducer further comprises a printed circuit board comprising at least one second vent and a cavity between the printed circuit board and the back plate that separates the at least one first vent from the at least one second vent.
