The present invention relates to curable polyurethane polymers made from renewable materials. In particular isosorbide derived from glucose is used. These renewable materials may be formed into curable polyurethane polymer compositions having different chemical functionalities and cure mechanisms.

(Meth)acrylate-functionalized extended isosorbide

Provided herein is a composition for use as a thermal interface material in a heat-generating device. The composition comprises a first part and a second part, the first part comprising polyisobutylene, a reactive diluent mixture, a catalyst, and one or more thermally conductive fillers, and the second part comprising polyisobutylene, the reactive diluent mixture, a silicone based cross-linker, an inhibitor and one or more thermally conductive fillers.

Thermal interface material

The present invention provides fast fixturing two part adhesive compositions which include a first part containing a (meth)acrylic component and a cure system for an epoxy resin component of the second part and a second part containing an epoxy resin component and a cure accelerator for the (meth)acrylic component of the first part.

Adhesive compositions

The present invention relates to curable polyurethane polymers made from renewable materials and having polymerization accelerator groups built into the polymer. In particular hydroxylated oleaginous materials derived from plant oils, such as soybean oil, are used. These renewable materials may be formed into curable polyurethane polymers having different chemical functionalities and cure mechanisms.

Functionalized accelerating resins derived from renewable materials

The invention provides reactive resins compounds and compositions made from renewable materials, such as plant and animal oils. The reactive resins compounds and compositions may include an accelerator as part of their structure and are made from renewable materials containing a variety of functional groups. The compositions provide excellent adhesion and sealing capability.

Reactive resins made from renewable sources

Disclosed is a simplified process for formation of polyisobutylene functionalized with at least one terminal primary or secondary alcohol. The process comprises subjecting an olefin functional polyisobutylene, butyl rubber, or mixtures thereof to ozonation and reduction thereby forming mono-alcohol and diol functional polyisobutylene. The formed functional polyisobutylenes can serve as precursors for many other functionalized polyisobutylenes including urethane polyisobutylenes, urethane polyisobutylenes capped with (meth)acrylate functions, and (meth)acrylate capped polyisobutylenes.

Two part curable compositions are provided, which include a cure accelerator defined with reference to compounds shown in structure I where A is CHor benzyl, R is Calkyl, R' is H or Calkyl, or R and R&#x2032; taken together may form a four to seven membered ring fused to the benzene ring, R&#x2033; is optional, but when R&#x2033; is present, R&#x2033; is halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyalkenyl, alkoxy, amino, alkylene- or alkenylene-ether, alkylene (meth)acrylate, carbonyl, carboxyl, nitroso, sulfonate, hydroxyl or haloalkyl, and EWG is as shown, an electron withdrawing group, such as nitro, nitrile, carboxylate or trihaloalkyl.

Benzoylthiourea or benzoylthiourethane derivatives as cure accelerators for two part curable compositions are provided.

Accelerators for two part curable compositions

Disclosed are photoinitiators that are ultra violet (UV) reactive. The photoinitiators can be polymerized into polymeric backbones for use in UV curable hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives. The preferred polymeric backbones are acrylic-based polymers. The photoinitiators are very UVC sensitive and have excellent hot melt viscosity stability that is many fold higher than existing photoinitiators. The subject photoinitiators feature aryl ketones linked through an ether linkage to a variety of connector sequences that allow for polymerization of the photoinitiators.

Anaerobic curable compositions are provided, which comprise a (meth)acrylate component, at least a portion which comprises (meth)acrylate-functionalized isosorbide, and methods of their production and use.

Anaerobic curable compositions

The present invention relates to anaerobic curable compositions, such as adhesives and sealants, containing blocked acrylic acid compounds. The blocked acrylic acid compounds are labile (meth)acrylic acid compounds having an acetal linkage, which cleaves to release (meth)acrylic acid during anaerobic cure. In this way, the block acrylic acid compounds acts as an adhesion promoter thereby promoting adhesion to various substrates.

The blocked carboxylic acid compounds are labile carboxylic acid compounds having acetal linkages, which cleave to release the underlying carboxylic acid during anaerobic cure.

Anaerobic curable compositions, such as adhesives and sealants, containing blocked dicarboxylic acid compounds are provided. The blocked dicarboxylic acid compounds are labile dicarboxylic acid compounds having two acetal linkages, which cleave to release the underlying dicarboxylic acid during anaerobic cure. In this way, the dicarboxylic acid can participate in the anaerobic cure of the composition when the blocking group is released.

The invention provides anaerobic curable compositions comprising a (meth)acrylate component, at least a portion which comprises a (meth)acrylate-functionalized bio-renewable oleaginous polyurethane polymer, and methods of their production and use. These compositions provide excellent adhesion especially on oily surfaces.
