Systems and methods for engine imaging are provided. An imaging system includes an optical sensor coupled to an insertion tool and a light source configured to output alight projection onto a component of the engine assembly. The system includes a processor configured to: receive data comprising a plurality of frames from the optical sensor captured while the component of the engine assembly is rotating, determine an angular displacement of the component between frames, and form a 3D point cloud of the component based on combining the data in the frames based on the angular displacement of the component between the frames.

Systems and methods of servicing engines, an exemplary method of servicing an engine, the method including receiving, by one or more computing devices, information corresponding to one or more components of the engine; determining, by the one or more computing devices, a location of the one or more components of the engine with respect to a location of an augmented reality device; and presenting, in a current field of view display of the augmented reality device, at least a portion of the information corresponding to the one or more components of the engine, wherein the portion of the information includes a rendering of the one or more components, instructions regarding operations to be performed on the one or more components, directional arrows or contextual information associated with the one or more components, or any combination thereof.

A method for inspecting and repairing a surface of a component of a gas turbine engine, the method including: inserting an inspection and repair tool into an interior of the gas turbine engine; inspecting the surface of the component with the inspection and repair tool; performing a repair of the surface of the component with the inspection and repair tool from within the interior of the gas turbine engine, the inspection and repair tool remaining within the interior of the gas turbine engine between inspecting the component and performing the repair of the surface of the component.

A snake-arm robot assembly may include a first link and a second link with a joint formed therebetween including first and second contact portions in rolling contact with one another to allow the first and second links to pivot with respect to one another. The first and second contact portions are configured to contact one another at first and second contact points corresponding to a first orientation and third and fourth contact points corresponding to a second orientation. The joint may be configured such that a line of action of a net force acting on the joint is incident with a first reference line extending between the first and second contact points with the links in the first orientation, and the line of action is incident with a second reference line extending between the third and fourth contact points when the links are in the second orientation.

An insertion apparatus for use with a rotary machine includes a body extending from an insertion end to a steering end and sized to fit within an annular cavity. The body has a first stiffness and curves along a circumference of the annular cavity as the insertion end travels through the annular cavity. The insertion apparatus also includes a stiffener coupled to the body and extending from the steering end to the insertion end. The stiffener has a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness. The insertion apparatus further includes at least one maintenance device coupled to the insertion end of the insertion apparatus and a displacement mechanism configured to adjust a position of the at least one maintenance device relative to the body.

Systems and methods for treating a component of an installed and assembled gas turbine engine are provided. Accordingly, the system includes a storage vessel configured for containing a treating fluid. The system further includes a delivery assembly operably coupled to the storage vessel and a control unit. The delivery assembly is configured to atomize a portion of the treating fluid to develop a treating mist of atomized droplets having a median diameter facilitating suspension of the atomized droplets within at least one flow path of the core gas turbine engine. A flow generation assembly of the system is configured to facilitate a passage of the treating mist along the at least one flow path of the core gas turbine engine so as to wet and treat the component.

Systems for treating an installed and assembled gas turbine engine

Methods and systems for presenting raw image data with a composite image are provided. For example, a method comprises displaying a composite image on a user interface; identifying an area of interest on the composite image; and displaying at least one source image on the user interface simultaneously with the composite image, the at least one source image containing at least one pixel in the area of interest. As another example, a method comprises projecting a composite image onto a representation of a three-dimensional (3D) surface displayed on a user interface to produce a 3D composite image and changing an orientation of the 3D composite image in response to a user input prior to identifying an area of interest on the 3D composite image. An image display system comprising a user interface is configured to simultaneously display the composite image and a plurality of source images.

User interface for and method of presenting raw image data with composite image

A system and method of using a tool assembly is provided. The system includes a body, a first camera and a second camera fixed to the body, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive data indicative of images of a reference feature from the first camera, determine data indicative of a first spatial position of the first camera based at least in part on the received data indicative of the images of the reference feature, and determine data indicative of a second spatial position of the second camera based on the first spatial position, a known spatial relationship between the first location and the second location, or both. Further, the controller may be configured to receive data indicative of images of a target feature using the second camera, derive dimensions of the target feature based on the images, and generate a three-dimensional representation of the target feature.

System and method of using a tool assembly

A tool stabilization mechanism is disclosed including a stabilizing device connected to a tool and movable between a deployed position and a non-deployed position, and an actuator for actuating the stabilizing device to move between the deployed position and the non-deployed position. In some forms the tool stabilization mechanism is integrated into a borescope unit, while in other forms it may be an accessory attachable to conventional borescope units. Related methods to the above are also disclosed herein.

A spray nozzle includes a first conduit that provides a first flow path for a first type of fluid, a second conduit that provides a second flow path for a second fluid that is different from the first fluid, a first dispensing aperture that ejects therefrom a spray that includes the first type of fluid and/or the second type of fluid, and at least one balancing outlet in fluid communication with the second conduit. Selectively flexible extension tool

A snake-arm robot and a servicing device are mechanically coupled. The mechanical coupling is accomplished by a longitudinal insertion of the snake-arm robot into the servicing device or the servicing device into the snake-arm robot. An actuator moves the snake-arm robot through a passage within an engine until the snake-arm robot reaches a desired location. The movement of the snake-arm robot concurrently moves the servicing device through the passage. Subsequently, the snake-arm robot is de-coupled from the servicing device and the snake-arm robot is removed from the engine while leaving the servicing device in place within the engine.
