A stator assembly for an electric motor assembly is provided. The stator assembly includes an annular body extending about a central axis. The annular body includes an inner surface and an outer surface. The annular body has a first thickness defined between the inner surface and the outer surface. The stator assembly also includes at least one stator tooth extending radially from the annular body. The at least one stator tooth includes a first tip spaced radially from the annular body. The at least one stator tooth has a second thickness. A ratio of the first thickness to the second thickness is at least about 1.1.

Stator assembly including stiffener and method of assembly thereof

A motor controller for an electric motor is provided. The electric motor is configured to drive a blower to generate an airflow. The motor controller includes a memory and a processor coupled thereto. The memory is configured to store a speed-to-airflow ratio associated with an airflow restriction on the blower. The processor is configured to receive a command for a calibrating airflow and operate the electric motor in a constant airflow mode to generate the calibrating airflow at a calibrating speed. The processor is further configured to write the calibrating speed and the calibrating airflow to the memory as the speed-to-airflow ratio.

A motor includes a stator comprising windings configured to be energized, and a rotor electromagnetically coupled to the stator and configured to turn relative thereto when the stator is energized. The motor also includes a motor controller configured to measure a speed at which the rotor turns, and energize said stator to generate a first torque output at the rotor when the measured speed is below a first threshold. The motor controller is also configured to energize the stator to generate a second torque output at the rotor when the measured speed is at least the first threshold, wherein the second torque output is greater than the first torque output.

A motor control system for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications is described. The motor control system includes a thermostat and an electronically commutated motor (ECM) coupled to the thermostat. The ECM is configured to retrofit an existing non-ECM electric motor included in an HVAC application and to operate in one of a plurality of HVAC modes. The HVAC modes include at least one of a heating mode, a cooling mode, and a continuous fan mode. The HVAC mode is determined based at least partially on outputs provided by the thermostat.

The permanent magnet rotor includes a shaft comprising an outer diameter, a first hub coupled about the shaft outer diameter, and a first plurality of pole pieces positioned radially about the hub. The plurality of pole pieces and the plurality of permanent magnets define a rotor outer diameter, and the rotor outer diameter is magnetically isolated from shaft.

The fan assembly includes a body including an outer surface, a cavity defined by the body outer surface, a plurality of first blades extending radially outwardly from the body outer surface, and a plurality of second blades disposed within the cavity. The shaft is concentric with the body and the second blades are rotatably coupled to the shaft.
