Rigid foam-core construction underlayment is formed to have one broad side covered by a flexible substrate that carries a series of spaced-apart, discrete regions (such as islands or spaced lanes) of resin, each resin region carrying a respective field of male touch fastener elements extending away from the substrate and exposed for engagement, such as by fibers on an inner surface of exterior construction material, such as a roofing membrane.

Construction underlayment

A method for forming a double-sided loop strap includes: receiving a continuous longitudinal strip of loop material including a strip-form base bearing a field of upstanding loops on a fastening side of the strip bounded by opposite longitudinal edges, folding each of the longitudinal edges away from the fastening side, such that the base overlaps itself, and securing the folded edges in place by permanently bonding together overlapped areas of the base to form the double-sided loop strap.

Construction underpayment

A method of making a laminated touch fastener includes introducing a flexible substrate to a resin applicator, applying flowable resin to a limited region of a surface of the substrate, and molding the applied resin to form a plurality of defined structures extending from a layer of the applied resin. The substrate surface, as the substrate is introduced to the resin applicator, has a surface characteristic that varies across the surface. The surface includes both a first region and a second region adjacent the first region, the surface characteristic varying to a greater degree within the second region than within the first region. The flowable resin may be applied within the first region such that an edge of the resin layer is disposed within, and adjacent an exposed portion of, the first region of the substrate surface.

Laminated touch fasteners

Techniques are disclosed for connecting a printing plate to a print cylinder or surface. The techniques may be implemented, for instance, with respect to a printing plate, a print cylinder, a print sleeve, or some combination thereof. In an embodiment, a field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a printing plate, and a complementary field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a print sleeve or cylinder. The mechanical fasteners collectively operate to provide a mechanical bond or interface that inhibits lateral and rotational movement of the plate during printing operations, and can also be configured to manage backlash between engaging surfaces of the interface. In some cases, backlash management includes use of cushion effect integral with the mechanical bond itself and/or unidirectional and possibly angled fastener elements to provide a snugging effect. The mechanical bond may be implemented with hook-and-loop, hook-and-hook, hook-to-channel, male/female-type fittings, vacuum, suction, and/or magnetics.

Printing plate connection systems

Touch fastener products, as well as apparatus and methods for manufacturing such products, are described. The methods and apparatus feature certain mold cavity shapes that are designed to facilitate demolding of hammer hook touch fastener elements exhibiting desirable fastening properties. Such mold cavity shapes can be combined with particularly soft molding resins to produce useful fastening products.

Touch fastener structures

A method of forming a touch fastener product having a sheet-form base and an array of discrete fastener elements each extending from the base includes providing a molded sheet-form base and an array of discrete fastener element preforms, each preform extending from the base and including both a stem portion rising from the base and a head portion both contiguous with a distal end of the stem portion and having an upper surface directed away from the base, the head portion including at least one laterally directed extension overhanging the base in a primary lateral direction between exposed sides of the fastener element preform and ending at a distal, free tip; and then forming respective caps, of a cap material of a higher flex modulus than the resin of the preforms, on the upper surfaces of at least some of the molded fastener element preforms to form the discrete fastener elements.

Touch fastening

A low stress conductive film or paste adhesive that comprises a) one or more functional acrylic copolymers or terpolymers; b) epoxy; and c) conductive filler. Additional ingredients, such as adhesion promoters and conductivity enhancers may also be utilized. The conductive film or paste adhesive provides higher adhesion strength than traditional flexible conductive film adhesives and a lower stress between the bonded components than existing high adhesion strength conductive films.

Low stress conductive adhesive

A composition for use as a thermal interface material in a heat-generating electronic device is provided. The composition comprises a blend of nitrile rubber and carboxyl-terminated butadiene, carboxyl-terminated butadiene nitrile or a mixture thereof, and conductive filler particles.

Thermal interface material

A thermal interface member in a heat generating, electronic device is provided. The thermal interface member comprises either a single fluoroelastomer or a blend of fluoroelastomer components that are copolymers of hexafluoropropylene and vinylidene and consists of greater than 40% fluorine along the backbone, and one or more conductive fillers. The fluoroelastomer blend contains at least one component with a Mooney viscosity of 50 poise or less and at least one component with a Mooney viscosity of greater than 50 poise, while the single fluoroelastomer component may have a Mooney viscosity of either less than or greater than 50.
